Week of May 11-17, 2026

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1982, 1988, and 1989.

Our first stop this week is second set music from 7/28/82 at Red Rocks, the middle night of a three night run, where we have Althea  ; Let It Grow > He's Gone  > Truckin’.

Next is the the third night’s first set at Laguna Seca on 7/31/88, featuring Mississippi Half-Step, Little Red Rooster, West LA Fadeaway, Me and My Uncle>Big River, Ramble On Rose, Gentlemen Start Your Engines, Masterpiece, Bird Song. Included here are a couple of songs with David Hidalgo sitting in, and the second and final performance of Brent’s Gentlemen Start Your Engines.

Lastly this week is the excellent start of the second set from 8/4/89 at Cal Expo, featuring Truckin’> Wang Dang Doodle> Crazy Fingers> Cumberland Blues> Eyes Of The World.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

Where's the new Tapers Section & the Jam of the Weak from Friday hasn't been refreshed as well, Lazy Dave...
You have the coolest job in the f-in world & you continue to suck at it....

They Love Each Other from this show has an awesome twangy tone from Jerry. Seek out the matrix for a 'you are there' feel.

Thanks as always dead.net 😊

Edit- I guess it's the Jim Wise AUD you're gonna want to seek out...

I WAS there at the "Annual Red Rocks Rain Out" ... in spite of the gushing deluge that threatened ("if you see us go up in a shower of sparks"....) those three shows were just about my most memorable. I think they repeated maybe one or two songs over the three days (second TOO better than the first?) and IMO, played some great music. Have had an Aud tape forever (can hear the rain on the tarp) and know that a SBD would be the cats meow. "We'd kindly ask that it not rain on us anymore" .... tcc

There is a drop down for how many posts are displayed.
And your duplicate is still on last week's Jam.
Edit :
David Hidalgo! Love his guitar work. I don't even like Little Red Rooster but I like this one. Same goes for West LA.

You can dislike it what Dave is doing but why be a jerk about it? Maybe log off, spend some time outdoors and listen to the music play.

WOW, you guys are deleting comments...

...because they say something disparaging about your overlords, that is really weak.
