Week of May 16-22, 2022
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1973, 1988, and 1989.
Our first selection is from Jerry’s 31st birthday, on 8/1/73 at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, NJ, where we have this magnificent sequence of Dark Star > El Paso> Eyes Of The World> Morning Dew.
Next up is the entire first set from 7/31/88 at Laguna Seca, where we have Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodleloo ; Little Red Rooster; West L.A. Fadeaway; Me And My Uncle > Big River ; Ramble On Rose ; Gentlemen Start Your Engines ; When I Paint My Masterpiece ; Bird Song. The second and third songs of the set feature David Hidalgo, fitting in extremely well.
Lastly this week is the start of the first set from 8/4/89 at Cal Expo in Sacramento, where we have Bertha ; Greatest Story Ever Told ; Althea ; Mama Tried ; Mexicali Blues ; Never Trust A Woman.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

Great Selections
8-1-73 a fav tape from way back
'88 - David Hidalgo showing them how it's done
'89 - Really nice pace and Jerry is back in form.
