Week of May 18-24, 2026

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1974, 1984, and 1987.

Our first stop this week is in Chicago on 7/25/74 with the Wall of Sound, where we have Dark Star > Jam > Stella Blue.

Next is the excellent first set from 7/22/84 at Ventura County Fairgrounds, where we have Dancing In The Street > Bertha ; My Brother Esau; Loser; Cassidy ; Ramble On Rose; Hell In A Bucket> Keep Your Day Job.

Lastly this week is the start of the second set on 6/30/87 at Kingswood Music Theatre near Toronto, where we have Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain, Estimated Prophet>Eyes Of The World.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

The lost Taper's section, lol.
All 3 look good!
Solid '87 clip.
The '84 is starting out gangbusters! Nice looking setlist on this one.
(Edit- Yes, great rowdy 1st set. I would have thought I'd gotten my money's worth at this show.)
Saving the '74 DS>Jam>Stella for a good focused listen.
(Edit- Worth the wait! This "Jam" is so good it needs a name, MLB etc. starts like a Let It Grow then some free jazz, maybe a hint of Caution, everything you'd want in a Jam. Wait, it's the one with the early Slipknot? Ya got me!)
Cheers
