Lastly this week is music from 9/24/73 in Pittsburgh, where we have Promised Land ; Sugaree ; Jack Straw ; They Love Each Other ; Mexicali Blues ; Loose Lucy; Looks Like Rain.

oh my goodness - this slice has some pure dreamy sweetness. Bird Song is gorgeous! It has a tape flip late but fingers crossed that more than one reel-to-reel was running - like the HCS shows - when they release this Universal Amphitheatre run (haha hint hint). And that Playing to close out the selection is very much quite excellent and mighty fine. Some great Keith spacey keyboards (Fender Rhoades?) on various tunes here and I love it!

I had the good luck to be at this show. At this time, they were assembling The Wall Of Sound. It was mostly done and blew me away. Never seen ANYTHING like it. The sound was perfect, and so were The Dead ! One of my favorite shows ever. Listen and enjoy !!
