Week of November 2-8, 2020
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music spanning only five years, but three distinct eras of Dead music: 1974, 1978, 1979.
Our first stop this week is the Dead’s performance in Missoula, MT, on 5/14/74, the third show featuring the Wall Of Sound, and the Dead’s only show in Montana. From this great show we have the big second set jam featuring Weather Report Suite > Dark Star> China Doll.
Next up is the start of the second set from 5/13/78 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia where we have Bertha> Good Lovin'; Terrapin Station > Playing In The Band.
Lastly this week is the big second set jam from 5/12/79 at UMass Amherst on Brent’s first tour with the Grateful Dead, where we have Terrapin Station > Playing In The Band> Drums> Space> Not Fade Away > Stella Blue > Good Lovin', including our second Terrapin>Playing this week. We hope you don’t mind.
