Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1970, 1981, and 1990.
Our first stop this week is at the Family Dog in San Francisco, where we have this great sequence from 3/1/70: Me And My Uncle; That's It For The Other One> Black Peter.
Next is the first set from 2/26/81 in Chicago, opening night of the Dead’s final run at the Uptown, where we have Feel Like A Stranger; Althea > Little Red Rooster; Bird Song; Me And My Uncle> Big River; Peggy-O; Passenger; Tennessee Jed; The Music Never Stopped.
Lastly this week is another first set, this from 2/27/90 in Oakland, where we have this excellent batch of music: Let The Good Times Roll ; Feel Like A Stranger ; Sugaree ; Victim Or The Crime ; Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodleloo ; When I Paint My Masterpiece ; Bird Song.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

2/26/81 (and the rest of this Tapers')
Killer, I say Killer, Set I from first night final run at the MIghty Uptown in Chicago. Yesterday listening on the long drive out of the field thinking how this run needs to be released. Then, damn, today's 56 announcement of the freaking Rainbow Theater from less than a month later was right down the street in that wheelhouse.
Chicago Boy here and damn I love this Little Red Rooster (which they broke out after 14 years back in August 80 in this very same Uptown Theatre.) Followed by a fantastic early 80s revival Bird Song! Peggy-O followed by a ripping Passenger??!! Jed then a rocking Music to finish that set!!
3/1/70 - DL has been dishing out a bunch of the late winter '70 Family Dog run lately here and in the JOTW and man oh man does it all kick ass and sound excellent.
And 2/27/90 Set 1 - another long tall cool one (yeah I know pre-Bruce). Love the Victim meltdown followed by a rare mid-set Mississippi 1/2 Step, When I Paint My Masterpiece (special sweet spot in my heart for this Dylan cover), Birdsong.
All in all a way enjoyable Tapers' Section, psyched for 56, and now here again I'm listening to that Bird Song (and whole Set I) from 2/26.
'81 Uptown opener
Very hot set!
