Week of October 18-24, 2021
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1973, and some early and late Brent-era Dead from 1980 and 1989.
Our first selection this week is a classic jam from early 1973, featuring He's Gone > Truckin' > The Other One on 2/19/73 in Chicago.
Next is the start of the third set on 10/18/80 in New Orleans when the Dead stopped there for a couple of three-set shows between the Warfield and Radio City runs of shows, featuring China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; Feel Like A Stranger ; Ship Of Fools ; Estimated Prophet > Eyes Of The World.
Lastly this week is the end of the first set from the Dead’s final show at the Kaiser in Oakland, on 2/7/89, featuring Just A Little Light ; Standing On The Moon ; Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again ; Bird Song, including two of the songs that debuted that week in Oakland, Just A Little Light and Standing On The Moon.
Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

Saenger 1980
I went to both the 10/18 and 10/19 shows at the beautifully ornate Saenger theater.
Certainly a treat to experience the acoustic set followed by the electric.
Sat so close, it seemed like Jerry was looking right at me from time to time!
