Week of September 13-19, 2021
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have some Fall 1973 Grateful Dead music, followed by double dose of later Brent-era Dead from 1987 and 1989.
Our first selection this week is from 10/25/73 in Madison, WI, the Dead’s second trip to Madison in 1973 after the February 15 show to open the Midwest tour. From 10 days after the release of Wake Of The Flood, we have Weather Report Suite Prelude > Weather Report Suite Part 1 > Let It Grow; Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad> One More Saturday Night, Uncle John's Band.
Next up is the end of the show from 6/12/87 in Ventura, CA, where we have The Wheel> I Need A Miracle> Black Peter> Around And Around > Good Lovin', Touch Of Grey,. The cassette master cuts off during the encore, but the vault’s PCM digital master includes the whole song.
Lastly this week is the end of the show from the third night of a three night run at the Spectrum in Philadelphia on 10/20/89, where we have Space > I Will Take You Home> The Other One> Wharf Rat> Sugar Magnolia, Brokedown Palace.
