When the ride begins in '65 at a pizza parlor in the South Bay under another moniker, who would have imagined? When "Who Are You? Where Are You? How Are You?" became "Won't you come with me?" and, ultimately, "Where does the time go?," who would have thought? 60 years on, we're celebrating the Grateful Dead's Diamond Era. Here we go back to the beginning, to the original "Follow," and uncover the wonders of getting on the bus all over again.

ENJOYING THE RIDE is a sweeping 60-CD collection that maps an epic cross-country road trip along the “Heady Highway” with stops at storied venues where the music, the moment, and the magic of the Dead reliably converged. Spanning 25 years of legendary live performances, this expansive compendium spotlights defining shows from 1969 to 1994 at 20 venues that consistently inspired the band to new heights.

With the exception of a few tracks from earlier releases, virtually all of the music on ENJOYING THE RIDE is previously unreleased, with more than 450 tracks and over 60 hours of music. Of the 20 shows in the collection, 17 are presented in full, with some featuring additional material from the same venue. The remaining three — Fillmore West, Fillmore East, and Boston Music Hall — are curated from multiple performances at each venue, capturing key moments on those legendary stages.

These performances were originally recorded by Owsley “Bear” Stanley, Betty Cantor-Jackson, Kidd Candelario, Dan Healy, and John Cutler. David Glasser and Jeffrey Norman restored and mastered the performances, with select ones using Plangent Processes tape restoration and speed correction for optimal sound quality.

It's all housed in a custom keepsake box inspired by the experience of traveling from city to city to see the Dead at legendary venues across America. Inside, a beautifully detailed tour guide features liner notes by Jesse Jarnow (author and co-host of the Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast) and a producer’s note from Lemieux, an essay by the Owsley Stanley Foundation, and more. The set is richly illustrated with photos, including many taken at the shows featured in the collection.

Due May 30th, this one is limited to 6,000 individually numbered copies and exclusive to Dead.net. We invite you to take this not-so-little piece of the road home.

Thanks for the heads up.

The Dead store seems to be down!?!

Found cd and vinyl on amazon, good price, free shipping and price drop protection.

Anyone else finding the dead store down? Will they carry this? I've ordered, so just curious. Unless the official site is offering more than amazon in the 50th package.

But nice surprise.

UPDATE - No sooner to I check my email to confirm amazon order but got notice from the Dead. Guess they're offering picture disc and special color lp and blue ray? Store still shutting me out.

I clicked on the BFA50 stuff on the Store home page which led me right to the item and I didn't see any way to sign in to the store either as guest or otherwise but it gladly took my order and sent a confirmation right away. Just got the BFA50 email minutes ago, two hours after I ordered.
Good luck to all. This one's a winner.
Cheers
EDIT - Now I see what you mean. Clicked on Store and got a blank screen. Only the strange remain. And in the words of HF and Hunter, "When the going gets weird the weird turn pro." I guess they will lose out to Amazon until they can get their stuff together. Try different browser Ron suggests.

EDIT 2 - DaP 55 shipping notice received 7-22-25 2pm (mst)

But what they did choose (8.12.75 sound check and 76 PA material) looks excellent as well.

I had also been awaiting some kind of SNACK re-release, since it was 'buried' on the Band Beyond Description Bonus Disc so long ago ...

I was at all 4 shows at the tower theatre in June 1976 One of them we had Front row seats! My friend has Great Photos taken with a very good camera. I had contacted all those about these shows and was told that complete recording were not available for all 4 shows and never heard back about the photos. I remember at a quiet time I yelled to Phil............ " Remember Tampa December of 73 when you played the Bass real loud when the police were harassing people in the audience " and he nodded with a smile

The store would not load on my laptop but I was able to place the order on my phone. Looks like they’re using Shopify for e-commerce now.

Edit: The store is not loading using Chrome on my MacBook. It is loading if I use Safari.

Thanks for the tip on the phone.

I don't like to order stuff on my phone, prefer to use my home desktop.

Odd the way the store is coming up?!

But in any event the picture disc is ordered. I like to get the picture disc and Blues for Allah is one of my favorite covers.

So cd's and normal lp have been ordered from Jeff and picture disc from Dead.net.

Thanks Ron.

I ordered the cd from UK Amazon when I saw the first comment and have an order recorded. If I look at the same site now it’s shown as currently unavailable! I’m sure it will reappear before September.
Edit: I’ve checked and I can’t access the store in any way. Clicking on store doesn’t work, clicking on the items on the front page of the website doesn’t work and clicking the pre-order buttons in the email doesn’t work.
It doesn’t matter for this set of releases as I’ve ordered what I want via Amazon but if this persists into the next Dave’s Picks subscription then it will be a problem.
Edit 2: My iPad can’t access the store but I’ve just tried my iPhone and all three methods of access work. I think they like to make each day a learning experience :))

Yeah, I would've thought that the 6/17 Winterland would've been a sure shot, maybe not. Well that should be a surprise Dave Pick some year then.
Anyways,... The bonus material still seems way cool, though I liked someone's earlier idea about that soundcheck being included with a 'One From The Vault' reissue, no dice there either. The SNAP food benefit is a nice rare gem!

I meant that Other One benefit! The one that had to do with after school activities in 1970s San Fran., not that food wasn't an issue as well.

I am clearly not of age to know any of this, I just got educated on it, other than the setlist. Really a righteous man that Bill Graham, not just a cool dude.

I figure some folks here may be interested in this. In addition to what's offered here in terms of CD and vinyl - Rhino has an exclusive Blu-ray Disc. From their website -

"Features four new mixes of the album by acclaimed producer Steven Wilson: Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround, hi-resolution stereo, and an instrumental mix.

Limited To 3,000".

Pre-order Released 9/12
$24.98 + tax and shipping

Very much looking forward to the Blues For Allah 50th. I was hoping that the Bob Fried Memorial Boogie (6/17/75) would be part of the bonus material but, alas, no. I read that the 1set sbd reel(s) that were available to Charlie Miller were a mess and not usable (not sure what the issue was.) I was holding out hope that there was another source - seems like their wasn't. A very early tape in my collection was labeled the Bob Fried Memorial Boogie and I just assumed that was some made up name and not in fact real! Didn't pick up Beyond Description bitd (something I have come to sorta regret) so very psyched to get S.N.A.C.K benefit., plus all the other goodies. All in.

He was such a great front man in the early-mid 70's. Totally unpretentious - he always looked like he was having a blast - and he took everyone with him. The first 4 Black Sabbath albums are the one for me. I never listened to them, or him, that much after 1975, but they were there when it counted ,when I was 15-18. R.I.P.

As I got older the last two Sabbath albums grew on me quite a bit. There's a good handful of gems between both, though I dig the tracks from 1978 like "Junior's Eyes", "Johnny Blade" & "Hard Road" most from that late era. I would agree about their first four albums as brilliant & ground breaking but also put the Master Of Reality album as the advent of Heavy Metal. (Deep Purple is right there in the metal convo too!) Also the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath & Sabotage albums were top tier Black Sabbath.
I sure like how they jammed instrumentally at the end on certain tracks, some jams that had names like a song to itself.

06-22-76 Philadelphia PA, 5 X 7” REELS Nagra 1/2trk 7.5ips Complete

The reels were returned after the Download Series, so the 6-21,22 filler on volume 4 is from a different source? Is the BFA filler from the returned reels or the same source as included with DSv4?
Just wondering.

BFA is my 2nd favorite GD studio album, with Anthem of the Sun my favorite (probably because it contains live material). Those were the first GD CD’s I ever bought, and being the early 90’s I had to make cassette copies so that I could listen to them in the car.

First, congrats to on the box release, mine arrived on release day, in perfect condition, all discs played and converted to ALAC with no issues. Yes!
Only one show in this box is a 1st or 2nd DaP pick for a sub year, 3.16.73. The 6.5.69 Cryptical is a face melter, AND two Dark Stars, close second
The rest of the shows would be a 3rd or 4th DaP pick for the year. The Brent and Vince shows rule this box
The '79 is damn fine not for the Brent but for the Jerry breaking in the new kid. He's having a good time with Brent and you can tell, more of this tour needs to be released, and also 12.1.79 - cough
8.23.80 – a fine - fine He’s Gone > Drumz > Space > Wharf Rat, whew, only other better He's Gone - 12.1.79
12.27.89 – UJB > Drums! The Space > Wheel is pretty good too
93 Crap Centre – Last best show for sure,. Stupid Healy messes w/ Other One and does the dumb robo voice over bobs singing, every Jerry song is ON
94 – worth it for the Attics, everyone else have the misprint “Drum”?

Good job Dave and team

MaryE, are you there?

Any chance that the comments / forum can be re-instated to (at least) a position in the index that is in the upper left of the now very sterile / shop only front page??

It not only would be nice to keep the community going ... It would be a damn shame to lose it entirely.

Thanks

Got my shipping notice for 55. Is the market so saturated with Dave's Picks to the point that eight out of the last nine DaPs not sold out currently? Is it the selection of shows or the sign of the times?

Still going thru the boxset, got side tracked by the two Joni boxes people raved about. Those two cover my favorite Joni eras - got me some blue, court and spark and some Jaco - thanks for the heads up!

Sad about Ozzy, his quality of life was severely diminished the last couple of years. Glad he's not in pain anymore and rocking with Randy again. Brought my 12yr old to see Experience Hendrix this spring, she was about 2 feet from Zakk Wylde went he went out in the crowd playing Purple Haze. He turned back to head back to stage and stopped in from of her 8 year old cousin and continued the solo with Brady playing air guitar - those two kids were extremely lucky and a month later they both were on stage for the encore for Leonid & Friends playing EWF's September. My daughter on cowbell and Brady on Clave!

Hope everyone's doing well!

So Dave just announced in his Seaside Chat that 2/1/78 is going to be the show for Vol 57. I think that is cool as we already have 2/3 and 2/5 from the old Dick's Picks release (I can't recall which number it is). I do like getting the "adjacent" shows to older releases. If we are not getting a box set with successive shows in it, it is nice that the Dave's Picks series can add these shows in. I have no familiarity with this show, but it should be fun to listen to for sure.

Dave also comments that he and the crew are committed to having the variety of shows from different eras/years in the series. I also like that provided that the 2026 subscription gives us something 1970 or before. I think we are due for that. I also think it is about time that 2/15/73 gets the nod. I see someone has mentioned 2/9/73 as well. Maybe both can be Vol 58 with the bonus disc and all, although there might not be room to fit both shows in their entirety even with the bonus disc. I had both shows on tape and very early in my tape trading days. So there is sentimental value to me for those shows.
