January 13, 1967 was a Friday. There are 2 shows listed on 1/13/67 on Dead.net, The Berkeley Community Theatre and Fillmore West, odd because I've never come across this mention of a double bay area performance on a single day. And with all the Doors talk lately, the co-headlining band listed for the Fillmore West Show...drum roll...The Doors. Creepy...Bolo says "B wear"...the Bears? Bear recorded shows?

Shirdeep - Thanks for posting - never heard of him. Some major Western Swing and jazz influence there. Berkleley '72 would be amazing, but '73 is under-released and overstocked in terms of potential releases. Still guessing '76 or '73 on the next box. And the good doctor turned me on to 4/14/71 last year and it did not disappoint! Highly recommended!

The Universal Amphitheater closed on September 6, 2013 to be demolished for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood. B Wear, Wizardry and the Dark Arts.. Bolo's easiest clue yet. I'm stunned dozens of you didn't get this obvious clue. Summer of '73 here we come. If memory serves.. mhammond was at this on that ended with a harrowing drive home, which gives the B Ware clue somewhat of a double meaning. Or perhaps I just picked a couple shows from the Summer of 73 and worked backwards to match the clue..

My harrowing drive home was from Santa Barbara 5/20/73. I did catch the Universal Studios 3 night run though and I think that would make a great box set. Certainly fills that big gap in 73 and would work perfectly in the 3 night run box set formula ala Winterland 73 and Winterland 77.

Already have Winterland ‘73 Box.Thus, we are in need of a Winterland October ‘74 Box, complete with CDs and video.

The Universal Amp run probably isn't top pick for most but I'd be quite happy with them as a box set. Most familiar with the 7/1 show and it's great. Great versions of Half Step, Sugaree come to mind and the Big River and Around/Around are as rockin' as they come.

I live a few 100 miles away from London, and pop down there several times a year to see bands. But I notice The Charlies gig is tonight, which is a bit short notice. The next gig I will be going to is Jeff Beck in Chelsea some time in June. And then King Crimson and Hawkwind at The London Palladium in November. Which is quite prospect, if you know anything about The London Palladium and Hawkwind.

....I am not familiar with it, but a quick Google image search makes me wish that I was.edit. Stumbled across a wasp nest under construction beneath the eve of my house. Smacked the shit out of it with a broom then ran for cover. Luckily it was only a few inches across, otherwise, mayhem would've ensued in later days.

I finally dove into Hawkwind last year. All the ballyhoo around the Your Captain Is Dead… Box Set tipped me into buying the Parallel Universe compilation. That was tasty enough to persuade me to pick up the Your Captain box when it hit a low price. I picked up a version of Warrior On The Edge Of Time with bonus tracks, but not the fancy 3 disc edition. I don't listen to them much (I don't listen to ANYTHING much anymore…), but when I do they always achieve Lift Off pretty pleasingly. The Space Ritual live album is phenomenal! I think I am done. Recommendations on how to proceed? (I read that the evershifting line-up goes rather Techno in the 90s. I generally dislike Techno, but I do enjoy the Floyd-iferous early days of The Orb.)

Does Anyone maybe have a SBD of Set II of 3/28/85 to share possibly? I only have set one. at least that High Time is on set one.

14 discs could be two 3-disc shows and two 4-disc shows, which would correlate with May/June 73.

Had to look that one up. Of course, these days I don’t have to set down my beer and go find a dictionary, I can just google it. Yes, the complete listen today of 4-14-72 was exactly how Deadicated and Vguy described it. Definitely quite greasy, as if 7 slices of bacon had been stuck in the CD sleeves. Now 5-5-77 Set2 as I prepare to do some grilling. Edit: I did actually have to set down my beer to look up salubrious because it takes 2 thumbs to type these days (don’t know why I took typing in high school, they never told me that in the future you would only need your thumbs to type).

Super Mario?Or Super Davio? What do I grill? Just about everything. Sun, rain, snow, it’s always grilling weather. Tonight took the road of minimal effort, burgers and brats. I don’t really care what the next Box is. All I care about is that I am able to successfully order 1 copy, and that my 1 copy is successfully delivered to me undamaged, and that all of the CDs play with no defects. Too much to ask?

Dave's been missing for 3 1/2 years. We haven't figured out who's running the vault yet.. but Dave disappeared about the time as his Dogfish Ale baseball cap quit appearing on the release videos. This new Dave is nothing more than an a J. Jonah Jameson wannabe with a penchant for 70's shows and snarly, bity sea mammals. I agree with request list though.. To VGuy's point, I'm pretty sure if the next box is 14 shows, I'd be putting more than a couple heads up on my couch as they struggle through their divorce proceedings.. It would be a shame to divvy up Box Sets this way.. the attorney's end up getting 1/3rd of the discs. Crap.. apparently I have already seen season three of Better Call Saul. I thought Netflix was tossing out something new.. Another reason we need a new box set announcement.. and quick.. Edit: I do like the new Dave, perhaps as much as the old Dave.

Hawkwind were incredible! They were often derided as a poor mans Pink Floyd-but throughout the 1970s, they were much better. They were definitely a lot better live. I first saw them in 1973, around the time Space Ritual was recorded, and it was one of the best gigs I have ever seen. It was mind blowing on every level-the light show, the legendary Stacia dancing/miming- the music. That is their best album in my opinion too. If you have the Captain box, you actually have their best albums already. They were definitely at their peak between 1970 and 1975. After then, they changed. Lemmy was unceremoniously sacked after having been busted during an American tour for possession of amphetamine. Then saxophonist and vocalist Nik Turner went soon after, and the band seemed to mutate into a more normal style rock band-with a proper lead vocalist-Robert Calvert. But they made good albums up to 1980-including; Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music 1976 Quark Strangeness and Charm 1977 PLXR5 1978 Levitation 1980-featuring no less than Ginger Baker on drums. The box set is the one to go for here-it has a live concert from December 1980 with Ginger on drums. Other good live albums are The Text of Festival 1970-1972, although the sound quality isn't the best, and the later Live Chronicles from 1985 which is based on Michael Moorcocks Elric novels, and features a lot of great spoken recitations from the books. You are probably sorry you asked, now! Actually, one of the reasons I got into The Dead was that I had read somewhere that Hawkwind were a British version of them. You can imagine my surprise on listening to Working Mans Dead, which I bought as a result. The comparison between the band is purely based on the fact that Hawkwind were an underground band, who, in their early days, specialised in getting spaced out and playing long spaced out jams. They had the reputation of being a "peoples band", often turning up at free festivals, or playing for reputably good causes.

I just hope that the next box is announced soon and not while I am away for a week without internet access next month.
