We’re usually USPS (whatever it’s called) for Dave’s and UPS or occasionally FedEx for boxes…seems like they utilize more than one method depending on where folks are etc?

This is my first from FedEx this year. Last year I think it was FedEx for all four. There of course might be a hand off to that dude in the Camry.

Yep! Im overjoyed by this pick. Cool that being the last show of that tour, I attended the first three in Richfield. Those shows were top notch. Consistently great tour. Arguably the last tour where every show was great. The energy definitely changed from the time of Fall 91 to Spring 92, where I caught the last four shows of that tour.

Did all nine shows at MSG and all six at the Boston Garden. Bruce Hornsby was that special sauce. Looking forward to this one.

I know a show shouldn't be judged only on the setlist alone, but it is hard not to do that in this case. However a big part of that (for me) is the addition of Bruce to augment Vince. Just like Brent did upon his arrival in 1979, I really think Bruce came in at a time when he was needed and provided that spark to the band. I think the playing was elevated along with the setlists in Bruce's time, and this show is a fine example of that. I can't wait for my copy to arrive, which I have an email stating it is on it's way. I am listening to Dick's Picks Vol. 17 which is the previous night (9/25/91) in preparation for this to be delivered.

By my count this is the 9th show from that initial announcement to appear on a Pick (over eight releases as two were included on #30: Fillmore East, January 2-3, 1970). 1991 was the year I was most active seeing shows. Got a late start: touchhead. I was in college and poor, but this was the year I finally had my classes under control and I had a job, so I saw as many shows as I could, culminating in Halloween - the last acid test. I'm really glad to see Dave finally getting into this year. Dick's Vol 17 was a long, long time ago. Listening to it as I type this, and it's lovely. That little Dear Prudence tease before TWBS is fun (I was lucky enough to catch a TWBS in San Diego in late '93). They keep up the energy and the musicality from start to finish, so I'm pumped to hear 9/26. Never heard a lick of it before.

As others have said, 1991 is a very good year, although I get a bit wistful, even maudlin, thinking back to it because for my money it's the last good year. Sure there are some good moments in the years that follow but... well, once Hornsby sensed the way the wind was blowing and took his exit, it was a big loss. He had to choose between a walk on part in the war and a lead role in a cage, and he had his own career and his own band. We know Kreutzmann for one (presumably others too) wanted him as the guy, but it wasn't meant to be. And in retrospect losing Bill Graham was epochal. By Spring 1992, as Spacebrother noted, the vibe had changed significantly.

But there I go, indulging my sentimentality and probably being a bit inflammatory, which wasn't my intent. I actually was on the verge of posting this earlier but then summarily deleted it, and have now rewritten it several times. Aanyway, to me this is going to be a very valuable archival release. Just a marker in time and a chance to relive the magic. "If you get confused, listen to the music play."

I am also listening to Dick's 17 in anticipation of this Dave's arrival. Powerful band with two keyboards. Clam Jam was pretty cool. Terrapin was big and majestic.

Got a shipping notice. Says it'll be here next Wednesday, but if it things happen the way they did with the last couple Dave's, the Camry man should be throwing my copy out his window in the general direction of my front porch Monday-ish. Really looking forward to this one, based on the set list and listening party stuff.

Woohoo, Camry dude showed up and underhand pitched my copy of DaP 59 straight onto my porch. Gonna listen to that Sunday morning instead of going to church

This show to be the penultimate show of a 6 show Boston box set. On 9/26/91 I turned 26 years old I had a ticket through GDTS but couldn't attend because the family planned a birthday dinner in my honor. It would've been the best show I ever attended. Then again being in attendance for the UBC breakout was the ultimate Dead experience.

Got it loaded onto a music player and had second listen last night.

Cant wait to listen! Love this show! The DaP subscription is a beautiful thing! Its been a while since hearing this, but was always a favorite tape. The second set flows beautifully, including Drums and Space.

Just appeared, seemingly tossed up on the porch, at 7pm on a Sunday night.
I have no idea who delivered it, they kinda suck.

Appeared on the porch as if beamed down by Scotty Scott last night. Wouldn't have found it till morning had I not needed to turn off the sprinklers. Grabbed it and had time to listen to the first set last night. It's really good! I've not spent much time with the Vince/Bruce era, so it's nice to confirm that the people who've been crying for more from this period were definitely on to something. Good sound, good playing, incredible set list. Looking forward to delving into the second set this morning as I drive into the big city to take care of some bidness.

Mine just got delivered by EVRI. Normally done by Royal Mail. Surprised EVRI didn't lose it. Worse than a Camry

My last few DaP’s have been delivered by Evri with no problems. Perhaps the name change from Hermes improved the service? I’ve had problems with Royal Mail who have tended to be the final delivery route for the box sets. On at least two occasions I’ve got the postcard telling me that they can’t deliver until I pay the customs charges. I’ve done that online and waited for the deliveries and they didn’t appear. Looking online showed I’d paid but didn’t have a date for delivery. Phoning their ‘help line’ I was told I hadn’t paid. When they looked in more detail, on both occasions, they accepted I had, in fact, paid. Then they took another couple of days before delivering. On current evidence I prefer Evri although I agree they used to be terrible.

Just listened through the second set, and it's a good 'un. I would even go so far as to say this has become my favorite kind of DaP: a really good show from an era I'm not very familiar with, and something I probably wouldn't have sought out on my own.
It's true that this is a pretty short one, duration-wise. Yes, they probably could've tacked on some bonus tracks. Can't deny it. But I would say that this is one of those shows with a definite (for want of a better word) flow to it and I'm kinda glad they didn't break that up. And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight.
PS: In case you were wondering, like I was, whether this show was up on Play Dead, it isn't. Yet. Although DaP 58 is up there. So from what I can tell, all the DaPs are available there, but NOT the bonus disc stuff and not the most recent one. Which is probably smart if they're trying to sustain sales in physical media.

This show had been a long time favorite tape in my collection. The energy between the band and crowd was in the air. Bruce and Vince each found a good space in the music to blend with the moment. Vince played exceptionally well during this Good Lovin'. The organ sound and approach were on point. Bruce definitely an MVP right out of the gate. Jerry sounded like he was feeling good. Phil gets a piece. Double encore! Setlist choice! This show had everything going for it. Having attended Richfield at the start of this tour I find it amazing that the enegy carried over through each city and run. Lots of gold in these hills. 9/4/91-9/6/91, particularly the 1st and 3rd nights are right up there!

Is it just me or has the Cover Art for 2026, especially 59, been the most boring and bland ever.

In order to receive my Dave's Picks 59, I've just paid €18.16 ($21) to the Dutch customs. €5.16 VAT, €3.00 import duty and €10.00 administration charge. The VAT is levied on the cost of the goods, shipping costs and the import duty. Legal theft? You bet. They say they will try to deliver it in 5 - 7 days. It often takes longer.
