Narrowing down the Grateful Dead's touring career and live performances to 60 CDs, 20 venues, and more than 450 songs is hard enough. Narrowing THAT down for 3CD and 6LP sets is a monumental undertaking, but with so much great music to select from, it's one of the most enjoyable compilations we've ever assembled. This nearly four hour collection contains one song (or two, or three...) from every show in the Dead's new road tripping boxed set, ENJOYING THE RIDE, which brings together music from 20 (21...) of the most essential venues in Grateful Dead and Dead Head history. This compilation is crafted with songs spanning the 25 years in the boxed set, 1969-1994. Drawn from such iconic venues as Red Rocks, Frost Amphitheatre, Greek Theatre, Fillmores East and West, Madison Square Garden, Alpine Valley, and many more, THE MUSIC NEVER STOPPED features such classics as "Truckin'," "Eyes Of The World," "Scarlet Begonias," the title track, and plenty of under the radar tracks like "Big Boy Pete," "My Brother Esau," and "Doin' That Rag." This is a career-defining live collection filled with some of the greatest tracks performed at their greatest venues. - David Lemieux

Yeah! Wow, them two Port Chester shows,... et al.
Well, I dunno if two months is enough time to save for this big'ol thing but it sure is enticing. In 2015 I was in a waaaay more poorer situation than I am now, so at the time the 50th BIG Box was out of my atmosphere by lightyears. I did however years later, in 2024? I picked up one of the 4cd short samplers and was delighted. Lucky any were left after all them years. ANYWAYS...

With that in mind I am really digging the play listing of the "Sampler CD" Chop Show for the 60th! Looks like a nice array of the years, songs, line-ups and venues. Makes me yearn for the full 60 cd course meal! Count me in and aboard on the lil'show, I will see what I can Shakedown Street in time for Son of Boxilla!

Looks like a stunning box set

I am on the fence with the break out cd set it looks great but I lean toward more primal dead 💀. As always any Grateful Dead is good Dead and it would be a nice keep sake. For all those going to the Sphere in Vegas or buying the box set cheers and enjoy let’s make America Grateful again.

    Somewhat like...

    the So Many Roads compilation.
    Likely where I'll go.
If for nothing else, the Red Rocks songs.
    Cheers

Oops, now the track listing is up for this and I'm having second thoughts. Only the Estimated? I can hear more of that Red Rocks show on Taper's (or was it Jam-O-week) here on Dead net than that. And there's always the Archive.

OK, now I've read the track list more carefully it seems it is configured out of date order to resemble more of a complete show, a sort of fantasy set list so to speak. I'll probably have to get at least this offering.

This looks like a good "best of" overview, for those who want something a little more portable or are just starting to get into the GD.

Sorry to see some shows I've long wished would be released as DPs (3/20/77, 7/13/84) get lumped into a $600 product. Happy for those who can afford it. Meanwhile, at least the Scarlet/Touch/Fire from the Greek show is in the greatest hits CD, so I'll probably get that.

I hope someone gets to enjoy this box. It has some appealing material in it. But it's so scattershot and heavily weighted to 80s and 90s as to make it ridiculous for those interested in '69 through '73 (yep, add Red Rocks '79).

If anyone would like to go in on the box, I'm only interested in copies of about 10 of these shows. PM me and we can work it out.

    No Track List?

I guess you just hope it has some of the ones you wanted from the big box, but no whole shows. Definitely more in my price range, lol.
    Cheers
