Poor old 2025 was just hard for so many of us for so many reasons. As it fades into the rear view, we turn to the road ahead. Thanks to all of you for being here, and here's to a better year ahead for us all.

The we will survive thread?
Tough year but Grateful to be here.
The wife and I both survived minor cancer scares. Then she had emergency gallbladder surgery Monday. Everything went well.
But as August West says, the good lord willin'.....
we are back on our feet again.
Cheers to all

Thanks for the topic MaryE!
Lowest low and highest high in 2025. First day of summer break, ended up in the hospital with heart issues. Celebrating retirement from 33 years in education at midnight tonight.
Thanks to the community for being here while I recover! 30 Days, What Are You Listening To... have kept me occupied.
And PROUDFOOT, if your (witty) cynicism goes away, I'll be disappointed!

Glad to have 2025 in the rear view and welcome 2026 with hope (and more that a little trepidation).

We will survive!!!

"Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself.."

Yes, chiming in with my thanks for marye and the rest of y'all. (I was born in NYC, so "y'all" is an inside joke. As in, only I laugh...)

To all here, those who face health issues and pain, my complete support for healing. Up to my early 60s I skated, more or less. Last few trips around the sun have included challenges, but no woe-is-me. Many, too many, face uncertainty, the specter of a final illness or the ravages of war. Compassion and empathy are emergent themes as I taste mortality.

Other than that, will rock out today! Starting with whiskey in my coffee. And moving on later to a little of this and that with my drum kit and guitars. Believe I'll work on my Mr. Charlie riffs...

Last two days I busted out my first listen to 15 September 1972, four days prior to my first show (hey get well, 1st Show and wife and GaryFarSeer!). Really love that fall '72, tho I miss the Grease.

Gray and warm down here on the Banana Belt south of old Denver. Have to admit, that line "I'm as honest as a Denver man can be" does resonate here at Casa HF.

Cheers! Hang the traitors!

Yours, HF

Yes, one of the consequences of surviving into your late 60's is experiencing the loss of friends who don't make it. I heard on New Years Eve that an ex colleague had recently died, which stopped me in my tracks. It is becoming a regular occurrence now. Another was discharged from hospital after having made a good recovery, though, so it's good mixed with bad. But the landscape I live in looks very different to how it looked up to about 10 years ago.
My own health has deteriorated, but not fatally - just what you would expect, really. I guess the message is to enjoy every day from now on. We are lucky to be here.

Last music - Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsies - the 1st set from 12/31/69 at the Fillmore East. Last Dead - Dicks 2 - 10/31/71 - one of the best releases, actually improved by the fact that it isn't the whole show, just the incredible highlights. Unless it's all as good as this !

Shout out to DaveRock across the pond and to Oro on the other side of North America's Great Divide (but not all that far away in real miles).

Thanks for all the discussions, insights and blather of the past year.

Hey, maybe the Owsley Stanley Foundation or a partnership with GD/Rhino this year will bring us a few '68 recordings.

Ending on a positive note (hang the traitors!), HF
