    Nothing Important
I am born by Caesarian section at 9:30 amin Princess Mary's Maternity Hospital on the 24th May, sixty years ago today, dangled by the ankle, smacked across the bum, swaddled in a blanket howling like a wheel. My big brother lain on his tip-toes hisses 'I don't like him'. He's Maradona, I'm Peter Beardsley, chasing a ball through the mud followed by the kitchen window, bellowing through the fern: 'Boys! Dinner's ready!' Dad is tuning in the telly beyond a heaving mountain of spaghetti hoops. I am nothing You are nothing Nothing important Death within a dream Petrified on the back of a pedallo in the Balearic Sea off Alcudia I can see the ghost of my uncle Derek waving to us from the beach, gently drifting out of reach, the telephone receiver swinging by its cord, a glass of broken beer expanding on the lino. My mam slips into the coffin a polaroid of his sweetheart Clutching Good-Luck Bear I peer gingerly over the side, press my nose up to the tide, and there behold a barracuda chewing on a chrysanthemum and a family of clownfish hovering in the corpse's hair. In the scullery of the cub-hut my clarinet falls into a sack of flour - a flurry of pins squashed into the leather handle a crescent moon of stricken fig-wasps. Drizzling my fingers with The Magic Sponge Dad says 'we'll probably have to chop them off'. He collapses like a canvas tent on the floodlit astroturf rent with a fibula guide-rod poking a hole through his shin There are teardrops in his moustache charging a flute of champagne down the aisle and out for a throw-in A St.John ambulance careers between the sugary pillars of the wedding cake A crystal spoon A pewter tankard these words inscribed upon the base: HAPPY RETIREMENT BEST GRANDDAD IN THE WORLD A toby jug filled to the brim with curtain hooks A sheepskin rug discoloured with tobacco smoke within it's braids concealed a rank of plastic soldiers set to burst underfoot Berwick in oils: a skiff on the swollen tweed cradling a false pearl a ceramic seraph with an astray for a brain - and I don't care about these things Why do they remain so clear while the faces of my loved ones disappear? A Rington's plate a forking hairline seam of superglue through the Black Gate a digital photoframe frozen on an blurry orange thumb I remember all these things Old karate trophies I am tethered by these things Thimbles and pesatas I remember all these things A roll of Woolworth's price stickers I can see all these things but where have all my people gone? In the end it wasn't meant to be. He was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. He survived for seven days before he slipped away - Richard Dawson

Some say I'm a friend Some say I'm a foe Some say that I'm fast And some that I'm slow Some think that I'm nice Some say that I'm mean And sometimes they miss me The days in between Some say that I'm gone Some say I'll be back And some want to pray And some to attack Some look to me But I look to you Whatever you ask Is what I will do It's getting hot around here And it's not just the time of the year The winds begin to blow Which way are you gonna go? Well some like to rock And some like to roll And some want to keep it All under control Some like to sing And some like to dance Some play it safe And some take the chance Some live for love And some love to hate And sometimes it's early And sometimes it's late Sometimes we're rich And sometimes we're poor And sometimes we just Put our foot in the door It's getting hot around here And it's not just the time of the year The winds begin to blow Which way are we gonna go?

I'm sitting on the couch watching the evening newsSeeing all the mayhem just gives me the blues I'm waiting for a story that'll make me smile I know it's gonna come but it might take awhile How I wish the earth was just a big dance floor And everybody knew there's nothing holy about war I say a little prayer that it'll be that way Then turn off the TV and make my getaway I got to find some dancing room Underneath the summer moon So come and dance with me and we'll all let it be And hope the world starts dancing too Time to hit the road and leave the fog behind There's a party up the river after dinnertime The boys are gonna be there doin' what they do And you can bet the girls will be there doing it too I'm looking for ten thousand of my closest friends I know they're in the field just up around the bend I feel a little tingle going in my toes And when I hear the music it's just gonna grow Dancing to those country tunes There's a smile growing wider on the moon So come and dance with me in the land of the free And hope the world starts dancing too Little girl don't cry about the things you're told We're gonna grow up but we don't got to grow old You can spend a lifetime looking for a truth But music and laughter are the fountain of youth We're dancing to those country tunes Underneath the summer moon So come and dance with me at the hootenanny And we'll hope the world starts dancing too

It's been 30 years nowSince I stood on the banks Of the little Antietam And heard the cannons roar And the whit of the rifle ball The grey smoke rising And the blue sky falling All I remember now Are the purple flowers glowing In the fading twilight As the sun's last rays Kissed the branches By the banks Of the little Antietam The leaves shook On the aspen trees But there was no breeze Spirit moved on the waters Sunset by the banks Of the little Antietam

Traditional Ode To The Green Beret Fighting soldiers from the sky Fearless men who jump and die Men who mean just what they say The brave men of the Green Beret Silver wings upon their chest These are men, America's best One hundred men we'll test today But only three win the Green Beret Trained to live, off nature's land Trained in combat, hand to hand Men who fight by night and day Courage deep, from the Green Beret Silver wings upon their chest These are men, America's best One hundred men we'll test today But only three win the Green Beret Back at home a young wife waits Her Green Beret has met his fate He has died for those oppressed Leaving her this last request Put silver wings on my son's chest Make him one of America's best He'll be a man they'll test one day Have him win the Green Beret

The Trappers Way back in 1821 I was hired as a corporate gun The Ashley firm was out for a profit And Beaver fur was hot on the market I was young and green as they go A farmboy from the sticks of "Hio" With shot and powder and a handful of traps, they said: Go get 'em boys we ain't got any maps Well they call me the Trapper Each days a new chapter They call me the Trapper And the stars are my rafters The beaver fur they call it a "plew" All I know's I got somethin' to do Fifty weeks of paying my dues Till I hit the Rendezvous For two weeks with a bottle of whiskey And Native girls who want to get frisky Gambling the night away There's time to work and a time to play They call us the Trappers Who live for the laughter They call us the Trappers Flirtin' with diaster I've seen Buffalo fill the plain Watched the wolves howl in the rain Guided the wagon trains to gold It never gets old They call us the Trappers And that's all that matters

this happpened, Hope it's not too bad. Mr. Hyde You consume me You illume me But Lord knows it ain't right what you're doing to me I want to laugh I want to dance I want to hold you in my arms and make romance What's that you say ? It's not the same ? Did you think that this was just a game ? Guess all those things That you said Were just more lies so I would be miss-led chorus But I'll keep holding on Even though I know you're gone And just a memory to me now And someday I will love again Someday I will find a friend To heal the heart that you cut out

Slick Willie and Cowboy Jim7/28/11 Well Slick Willie and Cowboy Jim They crossed roads one day Ducking the wind The city slicker and the good ol' redneck They broke out the cards and they Shuffled the deck Cowboy cut and Willie dealt out a hand Cowboy Jim was quick to Take command He raised the pot and said I'll take three Before I put you out of your misery Willie smiled and said If you please He had a pair of Jacks and one up his sleeve He raised the pot again and Just took two Said: "Hey Cowboy, it's up to you." chorus: Let the games begin And don't let cheating hearts lead you to sin Just play your daily hand And let each day make you a better man Now Cowboy bluffed the first time around Cause he's been hopin' for a Big night on the town But now he's sittin' with a pair of Queens And thinkin' that he might Just lose his dream But then he gambled and said: "I'm all in" Go big or go home I'm here to win Cause life can change in the blink of an eye And leave you wishin' for The things you can't buy Now Jim's "all in" is chump change to Willie He thought that country boy was Just actin' silly But at the moment he reached for his sleeve The wind picked up and he Let out a sneeze And when the dust cleared he looked on the ground For the third Jack the Cowboy Had found Cowboy said: "I'll give you three steps to run" Before I break out my Fancy six-gun And drop that cash while you run if you please Or I'll put bullets into Both your knees Let the games begin And don't let cheatin' hearts lead you to sin Just play your daily hand And let each day make you a better man

The deconstructionOf the human personality Rarely feels pleasant But it does Reveal character. She takes her sun dress Down to the tailor. I see no difference Between success and failure. If I have managed to elude The necessity to win or lose It's because I choose; To; Pick up my pencil and draw Pay no attention to the obvious flaws; Or you may miss the line That reveals The grand design. A 3d mandala in motion, Consisting of harmony Forever maintained There is no right place For this emotion I'll just end up Swallowing it again. Whether I pour Paint in the fountain, or glue; It all still comes up right, In a gusher of light, Sun splattered; Me & you.

When it's perfectPerfectly perfect Perfectly perfectly clear That's how I know I can trust it; When it's perfect Perfectly perfect, That's how I know it is You; And I open up the door. Stand up tall, and Let it all go By. Take a stand Make a stand And hold your ground. Spiritual warrior In a war in which You have no part But impartial observer. For no reason, do Love, for there is no reason to Love. Now it is perfect Perfectly perfect Perfectly perfectly clear Time to relax It is in good hands The rule of Love has cut a path shown a way endured, when all else fell away. It's the perfect The perfectly perfect The perfectly perfectly clear Which is all that remains. It's perfect It's perfectly perfect It's perfectly perfectly clear No more doors or walls or celings or floors It's perfectly clear We are all brothers and sisters from here.

My girlfriend does this thing whereshe bites her own tongue, and hard which results in her jaw ......................................dropping and jutting forward. ......................................This radical countenance shift ......................................is commonly accompanied by ......................................a sonic phenomena that mixes ......................................the onset of a grunt with ......................................the departure of a squeal. ......................................It's the happiest sound I know, so I call the whole thing her monkey face. A few days ago I did a bad thing. We were talking about her monkey face when I added an adjective—ugly— which I promptly revised into distorted but she's pretty quick about these things. After she nailed me for the lingual slip we laughed about it, which was good since we had both been ready an hour before to call an end to the relationship. We had forgotten for a time how to listen. Over the next several days I considered the inquietude of modifiers and realized I never got to finish: "when compared to conventional notions of truth and beauty." But these are culture bound contradictions; I get to experience Aeden's love unchained. Her feral ferocity incites my primate primal; her monkey face the most beautiful I know.

If you've felt it, then you do not know love. If you've known it then you do not know love. If you've dreamt it then you do not know love. The state of my being is not love, it is not anything, for I am existing in a state of being, surrounded by these ideals. The animals know of love, for they surround each other, and protect their own. As humans, we are not capable of love, not until our dying days, when we are holding the hand of the person that we've spent our lives with, man or woman, can we understand what it is like to truly love someone. The sky holds the knowledge, the clouds hold the rain, the rain holds life, and with life comes love. You cannot teach or learn love. Relationships are prisons, one trapped within the other. Only when the birds are free to roam the sky's and sing their songs will they be happy, the feathers will fall to the earth where they will return, singing their love songs to each other to find a mate, to find the bird with the most attractive colors, the beautiful voice, the one with the alluring dance. I am a crow. I am black, I have seen death, I have seen life, my call is ruthless, yet I have no hope for love - I will return my feathers to the earth, when the earth will also be black, with my heart, and I will rejoice in the song of the winds, bringing me back home, to be reborn into a phoenix with an ember in my heart, a spark, a flame, in hopes to one day hear a song sung for me, until that day, I will fly through the ash with my black feathers, hoping to hear the words again ~ Love

i am different because i am the samei am myself through all that iv changed growth an learning remains the constant goal still at times i lose the will to self control letting go taking hold hiding the pain so nobody knows caring for others beyond my self healing within for greater self wealth seeing the light in darkness of night, the moon a dry mirror in the sky reflecting the light from the divine knowing myself as you and i , i bless our hearts together we are better and shall not depart we mustnt fracture without each other our lives scatter into a fractal of suffering pain only together can we change must refrain from letting go always trusting though we never know time is slow as its fast nows today till its passed like the cycle of a tree our souls the roots our lives the leaves to spring to life, buds that burst to bloom always knowing, to die and fall is our doom our thoughts looming, we cherish our seed knowing that someday they will be more trees just like these only better with our blessings i know they will get there Namaste <3

Of all these words our sorrows plight,The dark begins to fade the light.. When our madness reigns supreme, And all our life it seems a dream.. Trust in faith, inside we dwell.. A light no shadows dark may dispel. The fire's glow, grows faint again. An empty feeling spilling in.. Only love can fill that hole. It's up to us to keep control. Why we wonder of this light? Why the darkness tries to fight? all the answers are within.. of the truth we've always been. It's all with reason and something looms It is our glory+ not our doom-

Wonder why the wave came And washed it all away For a bit, now eyes seek The horizon line. I know the next wave Is gonna be the best one SOS-Abandon ship All is lost, it's come to this Mark the world Null and Void Before you turn off the lights, And lock the door.

God's Mountain Welcome to God's mountain We're the human race King of all the animals Floating into space Come and join the party And sorry 'bout the mess There's this thing called money So we foul up our nest Seven billion children Who need to get along To lay down all their guns And put away their bombs To find whatever's broken And fix whatever's wrong To shake each other's hand And fill the world with song My friend said "don't you worry" If it seems too late And if you knew what lies ahead You wouldn't hesitate To put an end to hunger And stop the need for war Take care of all God's creatures Love what you're living for Survival of the fittest It's only for the beast The best things always come When everyone enjoys the feast

Whatever you need toTell yourself, baby To make it all go away Whatever you need to Tell yourself To make it all seem okay Lies, lies, it all comes back to Lies, lies, they swarm you Like flies. Lies, lies I see through your disguise Whatever you need to Tell yourself baby To make it all seem okay Whatever you need to say Lies, lies, there's no place left to hide.

Amidst falling fall leavesSwirling in cool breezes The child sees no chore Or working extra to pay coming fuel bills A child sees a comfortable place For rolling and tumbling And looks with curious wonder At the neighbor next door An old man retired With nothing to do Every nice day he rakes those leaves and piles up plastic bags That the child uses as another playground. Grey clouds and cold Bring a worrying look From the Old Man But the child sees Another day of miracle and wonder With no burden of time passing

How does it feel to beOne of the beautiful people? Now that you know who you are. What do you want to be? And have you traveled very far? Far as the eyes can see How does it feel to be One of the beautiful people? How often have you been there? Often enough to know What did you see when you were there? Nothing that doesn't show Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man too You keep all your money in a big brown bag inside a zoo What a thing to do Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man too How does it feel to be One of the beautiful people? Tuned to a natural E Happy to be that way Now that you've found another key What are you going to play? Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man too You keep all your money in a big brown bag inside a zoo What a thing to do Baby, baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man too Baby you're a rich man Baby you're a rich man Baby, baby you're a rich man too (fade out)
