Love your sign. Who knows, maybe we can make it work. Stranger things have occurred between DeadHeads.
I'm 50 (feel 30, look 40 - haha). Been coast to coast getting chased by The Dead (during the Jerry days). From New York.

Hoping to find my buddy an original 1980 Alaska poster for a wedding gift. It will be undoubtedly cherished by its new owner, and I'm willing to pay a pretty penny. Thanks!

This is a little different than what's usually put here, but I'm looking for bluegrass musicians or people knowledgeable about bluegrass who would be willing to do a quick interview via zoom. I'm a student working on a project talking specifically about the banjo but also about bluegrass music generally, and as part of it I'm conducting a bunch of interviews with musicians, instrument builders, professors, and music lovers. The end product is gonna be a multimedia thing that will include some video stuff, some written stuff, some photography stuff, and maybe some other stuff who knows. If you'd be interested in doing an interview, know someone who would be interested, or have anything else you wanna tell/ask me about please feel free to PM me or comment on this

Anyone know Ripper? Or his whereabouts? I'm an old friend from the early 90's who's looking to reconnect w/ Ripper. I grew up in NY and moved to San Francisco in 1991 with another Deadhead buddy. I met Ripper one morning laying in the bed of his Toyota pickup in the campgrounds at the Eugene shows. I was stumbling around one early morning after the show and started jawing w/ him. He asked me if I wanted a Guinness? It was about 8am. That was the beginning a wild fucking day and a long friendship. We partied the rest of that weekend and probably met back up when we returned to the Bay Area. From there he said, Let's drive to the shows in Vegas. Hell yeah! It was most likely early 1994. When that West Coast run ended he said, Let's drive cross country and go to the big Woodstock 94' concert. Hell yeah! We we're on a roll and having a blast. And by this time we had a big crew of people that we're hanging w/ us and seeing shows. So we drove up through Idaho and tripped out w/ some wild people, crossed the country and saw GD shows at The Palace in Michigan. Finally got to NY. We posted up on my folks porch and partied for days. My Mom loved Ripper. We gave her a pot plant that was in car. Somehow we managed to keep it alive and watered it while driving cross country. We did all the Giants Stadium shows. Then Ripper went up to Mass to meet his buddies, I stayed in NY and we both went to Woodstock 94' with our friends. Then we met back up in the Bay area later in early Fall. And we hung out all through the mid 90's. I would run into Ripper in San Rafael. Sitting outside New George's. And I once put an add on Craigslist asking if anyone knew where Ripper was? Someone replied that he went back to Mass. and he's involved in a big Grateful Dead fan club or something. Well, I've been out in CA for 30 years and I'm moving back to NY. It's been a good run out here but I need to get back to my roots. And I need to find Ripper so I can pick up where we left off. Or maybe a mellower version of that. Maybe you know him from the Bay Area? Maybe you know him from the Mass. Deadhead scene. Tell him Frankie from NY is looking for him. He'll know. He can contact me at frankcoviello1999@yahoo.com Ciao...

Looking for any Heads in San Antonio or Austin. People who saw the band and still go to shows: ACL, stubbs, emos, anything. I ran into a couple of Heads at the Tame Impala show back in December and had a good time talking Dead and hanging out with like minded souls. Anyone else out there??

The rooftop of the parking garage... the Husky game... Green Lake... Best of all: lunch in South Park when the cops "caught" us. (Well it's hard to call that the "best". Hi there - I figure this is probably one of the safest places on the interwebs to post this, so here goes. I live in Philly, am a huge music lover, and I've been slowly getting turned onto the Dead over the last 6 months or so, but I don't really know where to start. For one thing, I'm overwhelmed, to say the least, by the size and scope of their output. As a longtime fan and collector of Phish (is it kosher to admit that here? j/k), I know what it means to be consumed by a band's music, to know their history and the musical tendencies of the band members backwards and forwards… but that makes it all the more frustrating for me, not knowing where to start with the Dead; there's just so much MORE, in every way. For another thing, it's all well and good for me to go to sites like deadlistening.com, or poke around archive.org, and listen to whatever I happen to find, but going it solo just seems so antithetical to the spirit of community that this band has inspired, and continues to inspire. I don't know a soul who is a Dead fan, but I really want this to be something I can share, and not just keep to myself. Simply put, I need help. I can tell that there's a universe of music here, waiting to reveal itself, but I think I need a guide of sorts to get me started. So if you're a Deadhead living in the Philadelphia area; if you're the sort of person who hears an amazing jam and wants to share it with everyone you know; if you're willing to help a new seeker make some sense of the Dead - find an entry point, so to speak - I'd love to hear from you. You can PM me here on dead.net. Thanks! -- Jon

Deadheads in Missouri? I know there's some in Kansas City besides me. I know I'm not the only one. I've liked the GD since the 80's, even though I listen to the rock station, I do love the GD. They are in my Ipod touch, and my Ipod shuffle, and in my CD player in my car. A guy named Rob, whom I used to go out with, liked them, and a was a big deadhead, and he started me on liking them.

hi everyone. I admit I am a new Dead Head - never been to a show (in fact most of them happened before I was born). But I am taking a Religion and Popular Culture class at NYU and I am writing about Dead Heads, the effect the band has had and how the culture started. I would love to hear from some of you about the experiences you've had with the band and how they have changed you! Feel free to send me a message on here or my email, maiacanter@gmail.com Thanks so much! I hope to hear from some of you soon :)

New to this site.. Searching for my birth father with little leads.. I was conceived in Eugene oregon in the summer of "79. My mother devorah met him and they were only together for a short while.. I imagine, there are many others like me, products of a free loving time:)He went by the name winddancer. I do not have his birthname.. I believe he frequented santa cruz california, not sure if he was from there or not. any leads, info or ideas will be gratefully appreciated.. He would most likely be in his late 50's to early 60's now.. I know the circle was tight back then, so I am sending this out into the universe, that there is the chance that someone may have known this man.. Thank you, Sarah

I'm looking for a web-savvy Head who is interested in partnering with me on a new GD-based site. I have 300,000-plus words of content, and need a programmer and designer to make it live. Ideally this would be someone in the Atlanta area, but could be anywhere in the US. This has commercial potential and I would expect a match to my investment (with shared profits, of course). PM me please! Steve

Some Time ago , she decided everyone around her was responsible for lost youth . she came to you confused and in need of something to fill the void ,she thought she was not loved so she asked you for the attention she desired . some of you took advantage of her niativity. for this i curse you . some day i will rain justice upon you . some of you genuinly nurtured her offering the frindship she so desperatly needed, for this i thank you . she belongs to the future now for the candle which lit her past has extinguished, we will miss her. and always hold a place for her in our hearts . if you see her tell her . you know her as gratefulgigi.I was her husband , her lover ,and her freind,my life is better for having lived by her side.

Lonesomewolf,So, so sorry. Know that gratefulgigi was so kind to me once via this space. I was lamenting wanting to locate a version of 'Lovelight" sung by Pigpen and Janis on a thread somewhere here on this site so long ago and she kindly pointed me to a version I had never heard before. I've always remembered that, and her. Strange how a small act of random kindness can stick with one and it was with great sadness I read your post. "Statements just seem vain at last....." I think some further elaboration is needed, before we should assume that our dear Gigi has departed. From her activity on her Facebook page, I am assuming that lonsesomewolf is grieving their past relationship, and not her life. I have written Gigi a message about this post, and let's all hope very hard that she responds!!18

Paps told me that Gigi was at a fest this weekend, so our hope that she is alive and well seems to be the truth. I think in this case your post is heinously rude, lonesomewolf, to get people unnecessarily worried and sad!!!!!!!!
