I was able to sit down for a nice focused listen of 3/14/90 Capital Centre. It's been awhile since i've broke the Spring 1990 box sets. This tour opener, as DL points out in his notes, is really special. The Crazy Fingers to open the second set immediately sets the tone for a psychedelic ride only the GD can provide...all this after a fantastic first set that closes with a killer Let It Grow!

Today will feature my most of the time favorite Spring 1990 show, 3/15/90...Phil's 50th birthday...and oh boy, do they bring the thunder for Phil

    Happy Birthday, Reddy Kilowatt!!

Always a rare treat to see anyone else listening to this show. Still my favorite Stella Blue of all time. The transition *into* NFA is a thing of beauty, too. (edit: this show is only available as an AUD, and with all the boards that circulate from this year - and given that this show is the only appearance in Jackson, not a location known for its massive fanbase - this show is largely invisible to most folks, which is a shame)

Very nice show. Nice Playing>UJB>Playing sandwich and great show overall.

About time for news on that Ark box I imagine. Will see soon enough……

Always a Pogues fan. Shane MacGowan would really chug those pints the audience handed him at Toads Place in 86. Irish Rugby team were there encouraging him and slam dancing like madmen. Good times!

In retrospect maybe he could have taken things a bit easier. Ah fame is a bitch as we know from our patron Saint of the beloved GOGD.

The Complete 73 Fantasy Recordings on vinyl. Magic stuff. Looking forward to the new Garcia release. I love that period and San Anselmo was a favorite destination when I lived in Marin.

Will have to revisit that one. I did not like it very much but loved the art. Thank you for encouraging a second listen.

Thanks to the epic cover art showing the boxing skeleton seated on top of the old Civic Center. I like to think of this one as a heavy hitter, as indeed it is. Great release. Is Jerry rather raspy? Indeed he is, but the playing is deep, vigorous, and spirited.
