It now appers, only Daves 46 is sold out - the rest is "back in stock"..

I dreamt I was at a Hawkwind concert once. And when I woke up, I was.
Currently listening to Newcastle 4/11/72. It's old news, now, how good this is. It would be great if it got released on vinyl to go along with the Wembley, Lyceum and Paris gigs.

I've been really digging this release. I think the boys brought their A-game to the Rainbow Theater in 1981. Great recording, powerful performances.
I'm using this release to remember Bob, just playing his songs. It works really well. With his passing it is the end of an era. I have so many wonderful Bob memories. When he built D&C into a powerhouse stadium band and toured with it for 10 years, I found it truly inspirational.

Right now, there is London Masters from-yes - London ! - I love snookers, but I just heard that they play in "Ally Pally".. is that the same hall where The Dead played all those years ago ? BW from Copenhagen..

Ally Pally is a big place with several halls. For the snooker, the place was full of seats around the snooker table(s). When I saw the GD there in '74 the hall where they played was empty apart from a stage at one end with the Wall of Sound at the back of the stage. One could sit or stand on the floor. To help acoustics, there were banners, flags and suchlike on the walls and hanging from the ceiling, supposedly to make it look like a San Francisco dance hall. Whether the GD and the snooker were in the same hall is something I cannot determine. Next to where the GD played was a near identical hall that was empty apart from a few people with frisbees.

Still on 6/15/76, but took a detour and watched the video. It brought the tears back all over again. His eulogy was also very touching.
Fortunately I’m in Florida now. The “feels like” on the south shore of Lake Erie will be -13° tomorrow.

I wasn't at those Ally Pally shows and have never been to the venue. Although I like cds I have heard from these shows, I get the impression that at the time they were slightly less celebratory than the ones played in 1972. I may be wrong, of course.

But interesting how shows get reported on as there are less people around who actually saw them. I recently got a triple album of Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie et al at The Massey Hall in Toronto, 5/15/53. It's a very famous concert, in jazz circles, but in the photos accompanying the album, it looks as though the hall was only about a third full.

Thank you, Simonrob - the 3-disc-set from these shows are great, but could use a new remastering..

I agree but if or when they remaster those tapes, they should release the shows in their entirety. I believe Seastones was played twice, of which I heard one. I don't need to hear it again.
I can't compare the show I saw to Europe '72 as in '72 I only saw the Bickershaw show. The circumstances of that outdoor performance in adverse weather conditions make it unique.

Not quite there yet…
So today 5/5/81, then the mighty 5/6/81
Somewhere way way down in the darkest regions of cobwebia, I think I was supposed to go to the former with ole Milton Wilkelberry Steamer III?
Though I’m sure we didn’t have tix and it was a spontaneous thought, think I had a ride and a after space, but can’t recall why not? Perhaps a gig to work, though at that point I’m sure I could have missed…sigh
Goes to show, ya don’t ever know…

also, interesting synchronicity this morning:

Mississippi half step playing in my car (7/21/74);
the car in front of me has a sticker of praying hands.
lyrics play "and prayed for better weather".
I LOVE that kind of stuff.

Good morning rockers!!!

Today's commute----Fillmore East February 11 1969

Two short sharp shots of gooey Good Old Grateful Dead. Mysteriously dropped on us in late 1997. There's some great stuff here, always worth a listen............

The cleverest of all, in my opinion, is the man who calls himself a fool at least once a month......

Rock on my friends!

Doc
It is not possible to eat me without insisting that I sing praises of my devourer?
P.S. Danehead---Happy Birthday and yes to 1-21-71!!! They have it, now let us have it.....

One of my favourite shows from this timespan. The 1977 set list hadn't solidified yet, so we get a Terrapin to open the first set, an Estimated two songs after that, and a great Palying-Wheel-Playing to close this first set. H-S-F in the heart of the second set.

A new, to me, cd/dvd arrived yesterday -"Play The Blues", by Wynton Marsalis and Eric Clapton. An odd paring, but it works really well. Swings like a pendulum do. Eric getting a gorgeous tone on what looks like an ES335.

Listening to 7/21/74 in the car.
fun Seastones.

Watched the 5/7/81 tomorrow show time capsule on toobs of you. Too funny. They look so young, even Kesey, and forgot what a geek Tom Snyder was lol But the boys looked good and played well! Saw this live BITD.

Happy happy joy joy to Danehead!
Yes, please excuse the less than one third of “his” country (certainly not “ours” anymore) that support this nonsense. I mean Denmark, really? What’s next? Why not the nice old lady lives next door, tramp her flowers, kick her dog and knock her groceries out of her hand, FFS. Love Denmark, my auntie is from there.

Clapton/Marsalis have the cd, didn’t know about video, but good sheet Mon non the less!
