excellent show
probably won't be released due to lack of soundboard and abrupt cut in Scarlet and splice in Truckin'
regardless...worth a listen on archive

Sounds like a great idea after a "long hard day at the playground" (playground = Gila National Forest near Luna, NM). After all, this was my first show ; )
Going with Charlie MIller whole show SDB, at least for the 1st Set. Don't have my copy of DiP 18 at hand.
Super excited for DaP 57 from the Mighty Uptown Theatre and mere days before. That run apparently marks the first shows for my close friend Rick the Magician who is "pretty sure" he saw every Dead show at the Uptown except one. Also there was a Jerry show after those in 11/17/81 (BlueCrow was there too).
Snow incoming here. Which is fitting cause it was a good old fashion Midwest storm outside for Dane Co.
Also, if I remember correctly, our very own Oroboros ("Oro1"?) met up with Jerry the morning after the Dane Co. show and in that conversation was likely planted the seed for the "trip" to Omaha in July (7/5/78).

Dick's18 disc 3 has my favorite keep the airplane flying while building it until the crew can get Bob's mike to work intro to Samson. Jerry just goes on for minutes and never runs out and still comes back for a great solo later. Priceless.
Cheers
Holy cow! The 57 listening party Jack Straw! Whoa, shades of Red Rocks. The volume! New amps then or what Oro?

Estimated > Eyes of the World > Playing (just a bit of the Playing before heading back out to the playground.) This Eyes is so freaking beautiful. The long Jerry intro before Verse 1 is exquisite. Easily a favorite among post hiatus versions (along with 6/8/77).
Reminder that there is a reel change during Jerry's solo between verses 2 and 3 - some 55+ seconds are missing from DiP 18. Gap was maybe 1/2 of that or less, and CM uses an audience patch. On the official release they cut some of the SBD around the gap to smooth things out.
Had to pause my listening last night to take in the radio stream of the Blackhawks vs Hurricanes. Went to the shoot out with Hawks winning 4 - 3!! Oliver Moore with the winning shoot out goal on his 21st bday - announcers awarded him a Gordie Howe hat trick with an asterisk!

I remember hearing that 11/5/79 Eyes for the first time...I was stunned (in a good way)
GD79 has a ton of good shows

currently. Really solid first set so far (on ramble on) better show than I recall?
Prolly just had it on at work so didn’t get good listen?
After,
5/16/81 from Boxilla. Think I’ve heard it but don’t recall and know I haven’t given it proper listen, so looking forward to it!
Onward!

Sitting back with some Trans, the Miles Davis Quintet period. A holy grail for sure.

But the main reason I wanted to post is to mention that TTB announced their summer tour dates today. If you're interested be advised the pre-sale is on Tuesday. I will probably make it to Red Rocks (July 31 and August 1) and maybe also Bend and Berkeley, depending.

Now back to Miles and Trane!

Took a break from the June 1976 box. Moved on to a podcast I hadn't heard of. If you Google 36 From the Vault you'll find it. It's different from the official Deadcast. Just a couple dudes talking about Dick's Picks. I don't agree with some of their opinions, and some facts aren't just exactly perfect, but that's OK. Just about done with the first episode, and I like how they gave some context as to what was happening in the world in 1973. Kinda cool that they mention the day before DiP 1, what with DaP 58 on the horizon.
6/19/76 on deck.
Be safe if the coming winter storm hits you. Bitter cold and a bunch of snow coming to the south shore of Lake Erie,

Thanks for the recommendation. I def like '79, both early and late. The download release era is sort of a blind spot for me cause I had lousy interwebs at the time and have never filled in that gap.

Working my way through the new Lee Morgan - Complete Lighthouse release, and it sounds excellent. Got the CD box, packaging decent, not great. Next is DiP 18 (2.3-5.78) in prep for Dap 57, and it sounds good!
Thank you FB for the heads up on TTB. I immediately checked out the schedule and the venues are amazing. First went for Troutdale, OR but the McMenamins Lodge was sold out already, so pass. Discovered Missoula over our anniversary holy crap we love that town, been years, booked it, last one, sold out! Perfect timing brother

... Needed a total brain 'cleanse', what with all the batbleep crazy stuff going on. This Other One > Comes A Time > Sugar Magnolia sure does it for me (not to mention the killer 3 song closing stretch that follows!).
.
Also, read Hunter's liner notes on the original CD release - so appropriate and right 'on point' at this moment in time.

Thanks for the reminisce Strat-Wolf-Bean. Tracked down Hunter's liner notes. Nostalgic, those-were-the-days vibe, but starts out hauntingly apropos for today (you're gonna have to work for this link (I did)):
web "dot" archive "dot" org/web/20200225145729/ "h-t-t-p colon slash slash 3w dot" gdreferencesite.com/hundred.html

BITD I was back in the middle west visiting my Dad and we were in a Best Buy looking for some computer related "thing" for him and I saw 100 Year Hall displayed in the music section. Dad threw it on the tab (Thanks Dad!). Remember listening to it shortly thereafter that winter at a friend's and thinking "OMFG" repeatedly during the Trucking > Other One > Comes A Time. One of those listens where the doors are opening to a greater understanding. Also remember that actual Robert Hunter liner notes were a part of it. Seeing those notes mentioned here had me digging my copy out of the Vault for a spin and a read! What a great release all the way around. Crazy how Hunter's notes are dated 4/28/95 (two days from show anniversary) before Jerry's passing, and release was on the other side of that in September (based on Wiki.)
Just about ready to make the jump from the Disc 1 Playing over to the Disc 2 Trucking. Sweetness!!
DV check your mail
Edit - they don't write liner notes like that anymore.

Almost a cliche now. I hardly played any shows from this timepsan last year...this year I can't keep away from them. 4/30 - the 1st download - percolating now with a very nice Fire. Keith was still on the ball at this time - as were they all.

Apart from The Dead - Mississippi Fred McDowell Live at The Gaslight. Every tine I play this I feel like getting my guitar out to have a go. So I do.

Based on Daves "office chat"; "it will be big" (or something like that), my guess for the 2027 box is "the complete spring tour 1977"..

Danehead - that would suit me fine. I stopped subscribing after Daves 38, and since then I have bought just the ones that appeal to me. Which for some reason didn't include 41 - 5/26/77. I tracked a copy down over the weekend, though, and it should be here on Wednesday.

50th anniversary of 1977 with the remaining shows from the year released.

But let’s focus on 2026 for now.
Think I recall Dave implying the possibility of a 4-CD DaP this year.
