Heard 3 songs from Getting Killed (2025 release) on a public radio Tiny Desk Concert series article. All were mellow and since it's my 1st venture into them I would have to say pretty boring. I'm sure there must be something there and from what everyone here is saying it will be worth searching out, but from only this exposure I wouldn't even bother. Didn't really see the musicianship and on these 3 songs the singer's voice didn't draw me in either. Rather monotone. (The songs were Husbands, Cobra, and Half Real.)
Cheers

I don't know much from them but i do like Hungersite and Animal. There is a cool vid on u tube of Goose doing Animal with Animal from The Muppet Show. It's from Newport Folk Festival 7/29/23. It's a fun watch!

My friend took me to the 11/7/24 show in Pittsburgh. It was ok, but I thought they sounded to much like Phish (who I like) The young folks were digging it though.

Goose
Believe I saw them a couple times on nugs?
Ok, decent musicians etc, but like much of “jam” bands didn’t take me anywhere, just endless noodling (though I hate that word). I know it doesn’t make sense that a 35 minute DS does, but some how, TGOGD always seem to eventually transport me someplace, even if the destination is seen unclearly lol Even The ABB, who I love and saw several times, can sometimes fall into the former more than the latter.
And lyrics…reason I’m not a big Fan of Phish either. Their great musicians but their songs and silly lyrics just don’t really resonate for me? I mean not everyone can have a Robert Hunter, or Barlow for that matter!
I admit I haven’t spent a lot of time on them, though I did spend some back late nineties as the college kids I was in a band with were influenced and trying to write like Phish and Zappa. Somewhere I have a copy of A Live One, and I worked with a guy briefly who would play shows on-site. I did like some of the good, big weird jam stuff, but just never connected with their songs per say…but hey, that’s just one old bastards take, so probably meaningless, though I would ask that you please get off my lawn!
-
So now back to my quest and 1966…
Onward
-
Cool sheet Colin! I only briefly check a tad bit of Heaven and Hell, but I liked it. Sorta reminds me of my Oregon albums? Sorta…

Paris72 like Lydeum26,great shows; got it on vinyl with Wembley 4/8 to find a balance (Dark star/Other one); just going on with april78,not a favorite show, but Huttington could match Duke; dave57 reach the coast of this brave new world;
Buick 6 (lu Williams band) play with others worth a listen
Charles Lloyd & the marvels vanished gardens, /sems like biograph fo a retired gardener like me
this one for Daverock :Gong 2032 amazing sound spacy & trippy, a strange remain of their best albums(-angels eggs/ fying tea pot / you)

After another classical compilation, some Bill Evens, then onto 1966
6/1 meh
6/15 Very Nice! From DG GD hour. Not sure what number and his notes say date is unknown? Buts it’s a real nice one and only 35 minutes so nice to get a quick taste of primal!
7/1 another nice one worth checking out!
7/17 Fillmore another nice one! (2 actually ? both good)
And yes I went out of sequence as time dictated… mañana I’ll swing back to 7/3 from Boxilla and hopefully 7/16/66…
Onward!

Don - always good to see Gong mentioned on here. I haven't played this cd for a few years, so I'll give it a listen later on. You were right when you said it has the flavour of their classic mid 70's albums. This was the first album since then that both Daevid Allen and Steve Hillage played on.

They also both performed in the live concerts Gong played following the albums release, and before Gong came on, Steve Hillage did a solo set that focussed on his late 70's albums. A night to remember - if you still have a memory, that is.

Good old Dave's Picks #50. These Palladium shows are hot. Sound quality is A+. Need to compare these to the other heavy weights of the month as far as sound quality goes. Be well out there.

Primal Baby!
Where’s our Primal box dammit!
66-70! Maybe a fun taste of 65?
66 = 2 discs
67 = 3 discs
68 = 5 discs
69 = 10 discs
70 = 5 discs
That would provide both a somewhat comprehensive historical evolutionary consideration, as well as an entertaining one, in a slightly above average box, but not a overly large/expensive one…

My kid just sent me a link to these guys.

I like a lot so far, not a lot on the tube, but I grabbed all 35 cuts.

Interesting mix of sounds.

This might be something Vguy will like. (lookin' at you kid)

They'll be included on my next release :-)

Been working on a group called The Motet, on the archive. I like a lot.

Lyrics are good, they swing and the bottom end is deep. Tipper Gore would hate them.

I'm looking for a program that will split a LARGE mp3 file into small tracks.

Seems they want to stop making audio books in physical media,,, they want you to use audible. Found a place that sells audio books in mp3 downloads. Problem the book is 1 eight hour track!

I'd like to split in new tracks every X minutes.

Anyone doing this and have a product they like to use?

Thanks

Oh boy, now we're talkin'.
Great way to start the holiday weekend.
Cheers and may you receive a valentine.
Edit : Althea>Passenger slam together like freight cars for the 1st set ender!
Edit 2 : Oh yeah, it has an early stand alone Lost Sailor. I think I labelled that Bob's New Song.

A rarity: after Tennessee Jed in the first set Jerry says "Thanks."
And it's not even the set closer.
That's rare. When he does say it, it's after the show closer.
Well...now you know.

Spinning now.
Excessive amount of lame graphics and video that is not of the band.
.
I got it on VHS in 1990 and watched it a lot. Also connected a tape deck to the VCR and made a cassette recording of it to listen to in the car. Didn’t have a lot of good sounding tapes at the time.

    Pretty good ROI. Auction estimate was $1M - $2M. Bobby Tseitlin won the bidding.

    Started reading Peter Connors' "Cornell '77" book. Figured I'd listen to the shows from the box set. Nobody asked, but I think the New Haven show is the best of the box.

    Yeah the new JOTW is what I'm listening to. Very cool BCE that you experienced this show! Fine "newly minted" electric version of Bird Song (less than a year since it's return in those acoustic sets.) Sort of jarring that it goes into BIODTL : ) And there's a Cumberland! Followed by a ripping Passenger. Looking at the Set list for Set II and it is chock full of goodness. Did a double take when I saw the Sugar Magnolia / Sunshine Daydream sandwich around Black Peter > Around to close out the set!

    I was already on the bus for many years, but this show, 9/25/1981, Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, PA., is where I really stepped up my game and really began to appreciate the Grateful Dead even more. It also helps that this is my hometown show; I lived only 15 minutes away. It's not the best, but it's a very good overlooked little gem.
    I would really LOVE to see this show released as a Dave's Picks very soon, because I'm getting old and I don't have many healthy years left in me.

    I think the one from NYE 85 (1985-12-31) is better. Bob's is all over the rhythm. Takes a "dark" turn before coming back at the end. The drums come on strong.

    Of course matter of taste :-)

    Sure it's been mentioned before but a box of NYE shows be cool,,, I think the internet says 22 shows.

    I should have been more careful, facebook is such a shithole.
