Aging Gratefully by Bill Lemke and David Gans

Hey fellow heads,…I just got my copy of this great book (was kickstarter) yesterday and you really should check it out. About a thousand copies left and available to general public now. Bill took photos at Alpine Valley in late 80s in parking lot and has taken new photos of the same subjects now. David Gans interviewed them and wrote great words between the images. I’ve got no financial interest in this, just sharing a really cool thing.

    Re : Your tour 0f '78.
When I 1st got that July box the 7-3 show from St. Paul was the sleeper surprise one for some reason. Don't remember much at this point about Omaha but KC was a raging good time. I need to do that box again soon.
    Cheers
Got that 5-14-78 show on my to do list after seeing your post on POTDWD. Thanks!

Nothing wrong with you vinyl sounds great. I have a lot of the Tone Poet releases from Blue Note-they now have a monthly subscription-perhaps inspired by Bobby. Sound and vinyl quality are mind boggling. If I was brave enough I would get the Light House on vinyl but alas I am a coward!

I have the Light House cds. Bought them years ago at Red Devil Records in San Rafael when I lived there. Saw the vinyl and damn near pulled the trigger. My music is literally piling up. Music, bikes, and telescopes. My poor wife! 12/26/79 currently. Forgot how good this is. As good as vinyl can be the context dependence of GD makes vinyl less attractive for me. Breaking stuff up like the second set of 12/26/79 hurts the magic. IMHO.

Was just looking at the Garcia Family 25% sale and thinking wow, there's one I would really like and it's on sale with flat $5. shipping but before I hit add to cart I said to myself, "Self I sez, you don't have the room in your CD rack and you're addicted to buying more stuff you may not even listen to more than a few times. Remember the George Carlin bit about buying a bigger house, then filling it with more stuff, then needing a bigger house, lol." Then I went to the collection and saw I bought that one last year and haven't even listened to it yet. DOH! So anyway Garcia Provisions is having a great sale for all of us consumers. Believe it if you need it. Oh, and I showed great self restraint and did not buy the RGM DiP5 vinyl either. CCRIDER's wife is right!
    Cheers
Today's listens : Garcia Live Vol. 4 from 3-22-78 (but that Legion of Mary from 1974 still looks temping on the Garcia site) then back to the ETR box later.

The other day I notice that the Lee Morgan Lighthouse set is available again on vinyl. For a mere $350! So I figured I should listen to my CD set and remind myself that I already own this music. It's not working! I still wanna buy the vinyl! What the fuck is wrong with me?

JGB Mach 1, 1991 on vinyl. 5/22/77 on vinyl. Was visiting mom in Greenville SC where there is Horizon Records. Excellent GD and jazz collections. I bought the 5/22/77 a year ago over the phone and just brought it back to Vancouver. Spectacular vinyl same for the JGB. Also got Andrew Hill and Yusef Lateef. Tried to order 5 Trios but the wife put her foot down! She correctly pointed out we are out of room for more music and the subscription and box set will be coming.
