I don't know what hell is wrong with me, but I seem to be listening to everything but the new box.
I tried out 9/1/69 The Eleven is pretty good.
Now I'm trying out an updated?? 9/3/72

I'll get around to 7/15/89 soon... or not.

    :)

Edit: that The Eleven is really good.

A both feet tappin' spin of Garcia Live 13, to wind the day back down after stacking a couple cords of wood.
Saw Foghat at Loon Mtn ski area, Lincoln NH maybe 500 ppl, super intimate auditorium, on a weekend ski trip sponsored by WAAF in Worcester MA, '87 or '88. Wild crowd and crazy loud.
Also fortunate enought to have seen JGB in 89 with Clarence Clemons, plus Bobby, at the Greatwoods shows, a few nights before GL13 recorded.
This release crystal clear, like being there. Big Man burnin' it up, Fat Man rockin'. Has a great Dear Prudence.

I poked around with the Auds, and I think I like the Streeter best? Anyone have an opinion on that?

I'm gonna give Road Trips Vol. 4 No. 2 another go around. 3/31 set 2, and 4/1, 1988

Edit: I have the 3 CD version of the new Garcia & Grisman Bare Bones release, haven't got into it yet...
...and another CD copy of Electric On The Eel, I have issues with buying music I don't really need... :)

Nice to see that one in Proudfoot's list. A sleeper fav of mine for many years.

I had to road trip up to Berkeley yesterday and 10/2/77 was already loaded up so I went with that. I had this show on tape back in the day and I listened to that Scarlet->Fire quite a bit, but had sort of ignored the rest of the second set. It's solid but for my money there are many finer '77 set IIs out there

Mish mash of sources, and Mickey broke his hat lol

JOEY 5/17/81. The Streeter works, the munder, think I like the Jim Wise best.
Just sampled Big RR Blues, since by second half of it you’ll see what I mean by Jers loud.
Been forever since I heard this show, and my cassette version I ripped will always be imprinted, but I didn’t have time to do comparison. We didn’t know lineage BITD. Guessing mines the JW?
I’d say if nothing else check out that Big RR and finish the set.

Sigh…so much dead, so little time ; )

But back on so back at 11/17/78, both…

Perhaps the 18th was your first, er something?
Senile minds wanna re-know lol

7/13/76. was the only show I went to. It was very difficult to get tickets, they sold out immediately. The Orpheum Theatre holds less then two thousand people. The last show was broadcast on the radio, I listened to it on the radio.

I'm dipping into the '76 box >> For 6.11.76, Boston, and will have to do one from the Beacon as well.

I sure hope they will be able to release (some?) ALL 5 of those July Orpheum shows over the next year or two (!) ... That, and 1-2 more from the fall run, are all I really need to get from that year.

'Oh Yeah! Hah, how great was that?'

Like when the stereo gets exponentiated during Deal, the profanity laced Bill after Samson, the frog croaks in Space, so on and so on.....

Sweetness. Coming off listening to 9/9/72 I'm struck by how gorgeous this recording is by Kidd Candelario. A jewel. Everything just about exactly perfect. Nice instrument balance. Great vocal mix. Like Billy being spread left/center/right. Hadn't given it much thought but it seems that the new pa system introduced Feb. '73 had the added the benefit of making it easier to dial in a good mix on the reels being run at the board.

Oro - My firstie was 2/3/78. Chitown kid but I missed that Nov. Uptown run as I was away at college getting edumacated. Friend saw those three shows at the Uptown but was unaware of the Loyola benefit at the time. What you may be half remembering is that I really really dig that 11/18 Set II and have raved about it - it is killer - release that sucker! Wonder if there are complete boards of the first 2 shows in the vault cause I'd like to hear those clean too. May take me a little while to get to the Shoreline '95s

watching the Asian ladies play badminton, that sh*t is fierce bro :)

So, I was also thinking about Dick's Picks 28, but I landed on... wait for it...

4/21/69 !

which I am not really familiar with, I just got copies of the run last year from the kind and generous man with all the tunes, that you all know so well :)

I am also looking foward to having that Hampton '81 show

Starting spring tour after a nice 3/13 warm up yesterday.
Love that Hamza stuff!
Did they ever play bad in Hampton?
Been wanting to do this tour for awhile…

BC: thanks, I knew there was a story around those shows.
Yeah, the 18 is sweet, really enjoyed it back on POTD!
Didn’t get the best listens in on the 16/17, but seemed tour status quo.
Glad I finally hit fall 78, especially the complete WL shows.
Have a few left from December that we’ll hopefully finish up end of year…
But for now it’s 85 spring tour (70 yesterday, snow tonight lol) and fortieth anniversary seems like a good time to meet me at the bottom.

Thanks BTK. Such a good run. Hope we get more soon!

after you do 85, listen to some 86. Such as
5/4/86
3/21/86
4/3/86

There is some other stuff too. When they hot, they hot.

On my schedule for next year…saw 11 shows that short year.
Definitely some gold, but sometimes more work to find it…
Usually 3/24 or 6/30 pop into my pea brain first, but like most years, just gotta poke around!

3/21/85: sans a few mic frogs, solid high octane tour opener!
Sweet jams, like Jam into TOO is fierce, and JG spins an unusual little repetitive phrasing into it that I don’t think I’ve ever heard?
Onto 3/22/85…

Surely mentioned here before but I'll mention it again - a big basket of Betty reels from Winterland 10/78, 4 complete shows (all except 10/17), were returned to the vault by ABCD. This was a few years after From Egypt With Love. Box material you'd think.

Outstanding concert Saturday evening in Brattleboro, at the Vermont Jazz Center, well worth the treacherous weather drive down the Connecticut River. Django hot jazz led by virtuoso Jason Anick. In the next couple weeks, concerts with Dweezil Zappa, then Christian McBride.

Up to Ramble On, no frogs yet and the band is settled in to the tour and rolling

if you search the archive for the-majestic-star.

Someone took every dark star and blended them into a 25 hour cut. Guy give a full description of what he did on the archive page. I sucked it down. Recording sounds great.

Hey Oro, McBride currently touring in a trio with Brad Mehldau, will play with Kenny Barron out west, then regroups with some young lions under the name Ursa Major for a local concert in the Hanover Inn's ballroom. There's a private gathering with champagne afterwards for members only, been a while since I crashed a party...

I was at this show (and 4-5) also. We had floor seats about 15 rows back center. Floor seats at the Spectrum were folding metal chairs, a lot of which had seen better days. We stood on those chairs for the entire show. My buddy had bought his girlfriend a ticket somewhere just to get her in the building. We gave him a stub to get her down on the floor so we stood 5 people on 4 chairs. For some reason the people at the very front stood up on their chairs (instead of just standing) when the show started and it propagated back through the floor. The only time we sat was during set break. Leaving the show my impression was that it was really good. I got a tape soon after, then when it was released I was ecstatic.

The Springfield shows were good, if perhaps a teeny tiny bit less explosive than Hampton, especially the 22nd!! Think I liked 3/25 better of the two Springfields?
Ended up with a DHB (moving entire rooms of books etc so need hi test) hitting the first 3/27 of Nassau, another fine outing. Frog man hasn’t showed up much yet, just a slight occasional appearance, until Today on High Time on 3/28, (though I’ve heard worse) following the fun 1 2 punch start of Truckin>Somestack! His playing is consistently good to frickin rippin throughout! Can’t believe I’ve not hit this tour before!
Man I Love 85💋🍄❤️

CM: closest…Aspen late June…Hmmmm?

4/1/80: Happy Ani Big D! I remember hearing about their little prank on the streets that year.

Love RT 4.4, one of those sneaky good-uns!
Might be due for some 82 later this year?
