Decision inspired by Simon Rob’s mention of having attended one of the shows in the discussion of Europe shows on the Box Set page.

Decided on 5-26-72.
Big wildfire at our favorite local little Nat'l. Park.
Black Canyon N.P. will be blackened.
Visitor's Center was saved.
I am between the Montrose airport and the park and the choppers and tankers have been busy. Completely safe here. Actually 6 fires within about 60 miles of us. Sunset was more orange than the Turd's face.
Cheers
And HEY NOW!
Where's Oro lately?
Everything OK up there buddy?
We need your feedback on all this new stuff.

Yes, been wondering the same thing. Actually both Oros

And Hendrixfreak

With the passing last week of an awesome colleague, mortality is really on my mind. (He was one year younger than me.)

Here's to you, Hayden. Y'all be cool.

Oh, yeah: fuck cancer

Even my 80+ year old father likes this show! I played (most of) it for him over a dinner I cooked, along with a fine bottle of wine ...

Time for the chop jobs to be Plangentized/Normanized and released in their entirety.

Stunning sound quality. Bob's guitar really rings out. You do have turn the album over during Dark Star, Other One and Lovelight, but it's worth getting up for. It actually improves Lovelight - I listened to 20 minutes of it last night, and finished it off this morning after a good nights sleep. It does seem a bit wasteful, not putting a filler on the blank side of the last album - but anything they had put on would have been an antic climax. Perfect.

PF hits Bleach in between E72 and March '73...lol :)

I am listening right now to the 7/11/81 set 2 filler disc from the new box, I see 7/13/84 is also a good idea.

I was listening to 10/27/90 the Miller sbd...
Concerning 10/27/90, does anyone have an opinion on whether or not the official version has the better sound?

The Miller SBD does sound great, but the official release does still win, IMHO

It also depends on what kind of stereo system you're listening on. The better the system, the better way to sound test the two versions

Rock on, gang!!

I was able to give this a focused listen on a flight from Baltimore to San Francisco yesterday. It delivered, big time!!

Is this the best sounding 1974 board?? It has to be a contender, anyhow

Sound quality is excellent. Drums are really poppin'!
Really cool to have another show that I attended.

Reading some comments on this show on the archive. There's a hilarious long review from a poster who was tripping heavily at this show and does a great job of describing it. Didn't help his trip that he was standing next to a fully costumed Grim Reaper, lol.
I'd forgotten this Eyes was included in So Many Roads.

Hope all is well out there?

In no way is this making lite of the recent events.

It was probably quite smokey at this show?

Good pick, fun show. Guessing it was a little cloudy in there!

I'm about 150 miles from the North Rim as the bluecrow flies - comment re smoke was just an expression of sadness.

Morning, rockers!!

Hey, what's going on, what did I miss?

Right now, listening to the Cadillac Kings while I work on autopsy reports. And no, I did NOT fall and hit my head!!!

So, I heard the first DaP of 2026 will be 12/5/71. Kind of an interesting show..........

If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door...........

Rock on!!!

Doc
I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars.....

    12-11-72 Set II

"Part II, Part II of a Monday Night with the Grateful Dead" Actual emcee quote opening Set II (Bill Graham I'm guessing but not 100% sure) So I'm picking up where the sweet slice from this show in this week's Taper's Section left off (end of Set I.) And here we are on a Monday NIght almost 53 years later. This could be one of the handful of shows where Jerry played the Erlewine Stratocaster with rosewood numbers on the fretboard.
Mississippi 1/2 Step, Me and My Uncle, Big Railroad Blues, Dark Star > Stella Blue, Big River, Deal, Tomorrow is Forever, Sugar Magnolia
Falling in love! I like that! Highly recommended!
Edit - OMFG also highly recommend this Dark Star!!

I wasn't sure whether to get this Black Friday 5 L.P. box set of Love's albums and outtakes from when they were with Elektra - but I am very glad I did. I have just played the first three albums and the sound of all of them is superb. "Forever Changes" is their classic but the first and "Da Capo" are also great albums. Even the side long "Revelation" sounds good now. Very much 1966 style psychedelia, when there wasn't really a style - trebly guitar and clattering drums and sense that anything is possible. Similar is some ways to the Dead's early versions of "Caution" .
