I listened to the first album so much when I was young, which was already decades after it's release, some of the songs still kind of take me back, as many decades, if that makes any sense.. ha

I need to listen to the early stuff more often, I need more '67...

Before that I listened to 9/15/72 a few times, and then 9/17, I'll probably keep going with those fall '72s
Got my eye on some fall '77s though...
One at time dude, one at time.... :)

When I showed up for my 1st year of college in the dormitory at Colo. State in fall '75 my assigned roommate was from NY and he had only one suitcase. It had his few clothes, two pounds of cheap grass and a Supertramp album. I knew it was going to be a good year, lol.

With surprise filler of some Acid Test stuff

THANK YOU, CRAIG. YOU ARE MISSED.

Arrived yesterday - number 0817/5000. Nicely packed, and the first two albums play like a dream. None of those awkward little clicks and buzzes that sometimes appear on records. Great show of course. I'm not going to compare it to the cd, but the sound..whoops, now there are few snaffles appearing towards the end of Row Jimmy. Nothing to worry about though.

Quick listen to Soon Over Babaluma by Can and I will be ready to face the outside world suitable otherised.

One of those shows where I remember first listen.

Senior year in HS, bored....... popped this one into the walkman for a really long walk, and eventually found myself laying on an embankment watching a gorgeous cloudscape as the sun started to set. I knew I'd be remembering it well some 33 years later.

Finishing this up from yesterday's 1st set listen.
Great show!
Synchronicity seeing a photo from this show while reading Phil's book at the moment while finishing up this nice 2nd set. I love it when that happens.
Cheers

The only thing on the "official release", the one from the archive is DAMN good.

I'd like things that are better copies than what is on the archive. Surely there must be things they have in the vault that circulating copies aren't as good.

But agree 68-10-12 sounds great,,,,, amazing it hasn't been released.

And it does appear to be able to fit on 1 cd.

4/18/70, 11/18/72, 10/9 & 10/80. These one time releases were fantastic! Dave, how about adding 3/18/67 & 10/12/68 to that list of one time releases.

These have been released as a one time release, the acoustic sets, as have 4/18/70, and 11/18/72. I was hopping we could also get 3/18/67 and 10 12/68 as one time releases.

10/6/77 ASU, Tempe, AZ
I guess this one came around a couple years ago, it's a solid show and a grate recording. I plan to revisit it along with some other October '77 that I has lined up...

but, of course I jumped ahead a decade to 9/16 and 9/18, 1987. I went through them once and just started 9/16/87 for the second time. Anybody got anything on these shows? My first impression was that I might like some of the late summer shows a little better from that year...

Acoustic 1980, you can't go wrong with 10/14 and save your money :)

Hey now, it has been a while. I too have been listening to the Fillmore 69 box. Really I have been on a "back in the day" kick. I just went through most of the Capitol Theatre 71 shows, and now the Fillmore 69 box has been in the rotation. The Dead are great in all eras, even some of the post Brent 90s shows can have good things in them ( I have found a lot of 1991 shows to be really good too). Still I always go back to the 67-74 time period as to me it hard to beat what the band was doing back then.

Which I do think we are overdue for a release from 1968, 1969 or 1970.

The ad reads like it's something new (Preorder?), but this was released a while back, RSD?

Total side note - when I went to check that indeed this was the album I have, I noticed for the first time, that if you have all 3 nights in vinyl. When they're all on the shelf, the side panels make the classic jerry hand print! Didn't notice that when I filed them on the shelf,,, nice little touch.

3/1/69 is my favourite. But I am half way through 28th at the moment and that is also great. Maybe more blues rock than Aoxomoxoa slanted. The Dark Star on 28th seems more melancholy to me than the others, The jewel in the crown on this night, though, is the encore - "Alligator - Drums - jam - Caution - feedback" as signified on the sleeve. Put that in your pipe and smoke it !
