Watched the 5/7/81 tomorrow show time capsule on toobs of you. Too funny. They look so young, even Kesey, and forgot what a geek Tom Snyder was lol But the boys looked good and played well! Saw this live BITD.

Happy happy joy joy to Danehead!
Yes, please excuse the less than one third of “his” country (certainly not “ours” anymore) that support this nonsense. I mean Denmark, really? What’s next? Why not the nice old lady lives next door, tramp her flowers, kick her dog and nock her groceries out of her hand, FFS. Love Denmark, my auntie is from there.

fun Seastones.
Not everyone likes Seastones, but those of us who like Seastones really really like Seastones.

Mona….sounds like a 3rd guitar here ?
Don’t know who ? Nice long version.
Anyways…cheers
Here's to Joe
And yes to 5/13/73

Onto the 2nd disc of 10/19/74
Quicksilver Messenger Service
Burnout - always good to see Quicksilver mentioned on here. Incredible guitar sound. Maybe the 3rd guitar heard at the Kabuki was played by Dino Valenti. He can be seen holding one on some of their videos - mercifully not getting in the way too much, it must be said !
Inspired by your post I watched the great version of "Who Do You Love " on youtube from 12/1/73 at Winterland. The picture isn't too good but the playing is incandescent.
I might be wrong, but I think the ghostly looking dancer is Renee Berg. She can be seen on that Family Dog video dancing to The Dead in 1970, and also featured during Hawkwinds legendary Space Ritual shows at the end of 1972.
Warfield RSD
Finished the 10/4/80 disc, and it's really good! On to 10/6. Glad I got this release.

Playin in the band.
Hey daverock - I thought the 3rd guitar on the quicksilver gig might be Dino?
It’s kind of quick and just during Mona. (And not too bad)
I haven’t thought Hawkwind (or Renee) in a long time as well….my next listen.
Have an excellent day ya all…cheers

I'm guessing set 2 is disc 3 for Dave's #57 Per, Dave on SIRIUS today
10/4/1980 acoustic Warfield
The 2 CD RSD release was waiting for me at the PO when I got back into town. Yeah, my brother Crow, it's awesome that you could order a RSD release like this online and have it delivered within days! Glad that worked out! Returned reels with the assisstance of ABCD Enterprises. Sweet acoustic Dead!
To Lay Me Down (OMFG)

fond memory of listening to that on tape on a hillside while in a special mindset
I would love to relive that day...oh, yeah.
To Lay Me Down, Once More
That is a really great TLMD on the 'new' Warfield set. No lie, I got a little misty hearing it.
Also, I wanted to mention Real Gone has issued Dicks 5 (Oakland 12/26/79), in case anybody's interested. To my amazement, they still have copies DiP 4, btw.

Gone To Church
JGB Mach 1, 1991 on vinyl. 5/22/77 on vinyl. Was visiting mom in Greenville SC where there is Horizon Records. Excellent GD and jazz collections. I bought the 5/22/77 a year ago over the phone and just brought it back to Vancouver. Spectacular vinyl same for the JGB. Also got Andrew Hill and Yusef Lateef. Tried to order 5 Trios but the wife put her foot down! She correctly pointed out we are out of room for more music and the subscription and box set will be coming.
I'll Be Your Best Friend For an extra ticket ...
... last 5 includes
Grateful Dead: Infrared Roses (1991)
Dire Straits: live at the BBC
Johnny Cash: Carousel Ballroom 4/24/68 (Bear's Sonic Journals)
Little Feat: Waiting for Columbus
Grateful Dead: STEAL YOUR FACE Volume 2

Lee at the Lighthouse
The other day I notice that the Lee Morgan Lighthouse set is available again on vinyl. For a mere $350! So I figured I should listen to my CD set and remind myself that I already own this music. It's not working! I still wanna buy the vinyl! What the fuck is wrong with me?
On a similar theme as Crow & CCRIDER
Was just looking at the Garcia Family 25% sale and thinking wow, there's one I would really like and it's on sale with flat $5. shipping but before I hit add to cart I said to myself, "Self I sez, you don't have the room in your CD rack and you're addicted to buying more stuff you may not even listen to more than a few times. Remember the George Carlin bit about buying a bigger house, then filling it with more stuff, then needing a bigger house, lol." Then I went to the collection and saw I bought that one last year and haven't even listened to it yet. DOH! So anyway Garcia Provisions is having a great sale for all of us consumers. Believe it if you need it. Oh, and I showed great self restraint and did not buy the RGM DiP5 vinyl either. CCRIDER's wife is right!
Cheers
Today's listens : Garcia Live Vol. 4 from 3-22-78 (but that Legion of Mary from 1974 still looks temping on the Garcia site) then back to the ETR box later.
Lee Morgan
I have the Light House cds. Bought them years ago at Red Devil Records in San Rafael when I lived there. Saw the vinyl and damn near pulled the trigger. My music is literally piling up. Music, bikes, and telescopes. My poor wife! 12/26/79 currently. Forgot how good this is. As good as vinyl can be the context dependence of GD makes vinyl less attractive for me. Breaking stuff up like the second set of 12/26/79 hurts the magic. IMHO.
Lee Morgan
Nothing wrong with you vinyl sounds great. I have a lot of the Tone Poet releases from Blue Note-they now have a monthly subscription-perhaps inspired by Bobby. Sound and vinyl quality are mind boggling. If I was brave enough I would get the Light House on vinyl but alas I am a coward!

Re : Your tour 0f '78.
When I 1st got that July box the 7-3 show from St. Paul was the sleeper surprise one for some reason. Don't remember much at this point about Omaha but KC was a raging good time. I need to do that box again soon.
Cheers
Got that 5-14-78 show on my to do list after seeing your post on POTDWD. Thanks!
Also using this time to donate to the Archive.
Aging Gratefully by Bill Lemke and David Gans
Hey fellow heads,…I just got my copy of this great book (was kickstarter) yesterday and you really should check it out. About a thousand copies left and available to general public now. Bill took photos at Alpine Valley in late 80s in parking lot and has taken new photos of the same subjects now. David Gans interviewed them and wrote great words between the images. I’ve got no financial interest in this, just sharing a really cool thing.
Anniversary show 12/12/81 San Mateo County Fairgrounds
44 years ago I was up at the San Mateo County Fairgrounds for a benefit show with the Good old Grateful Dead. The show started with Mickey Hart and Mere Saunders . Then the Dead minus Brent backed Joan Baez for an acoustic set. The Dead came back out for a killer electric set. The show was held in Fiesta Hall , a very small venue. A great warm-up for 81 Oakland December shows.
Anniversary show 12/12/92. Oakland
33 years ago I was up in Oakland for a cool show with the Good old Grateful Dead . Crazy Fingers, Dark Star, SOTM, and a Rain encore. Fun Times.

Was listening to these two shows. Dave's 54, Dave's 21. The first one just bc it needed more listening and the second bc I thought, "hey, same tour, and that was the first show I ever got when I subbed to the DP series, and it's been a minute..."
Fine, fine music. Thanks lads - thanks for ALL of it. Edit: and THANK YOU Donna. How could I leave you out. We miss you!

12/19/1973 - beautiful ensemble playing. Jazz rock the way no one else played it. This pressing on vinyl is immaculate too, which bodes well for the upcoming Dicks 5 release.

Oro,
One of Cuervo Azul's fav 1st sets 7-7-78.
Start of the 2nd set 7-8-78 the amps were buzzing! Set to 11.
And 7-8-78 my favorite short Other One! Spooky!
Even that recording freaked out a friend of mine.
Full disclosure, see my name.
Oh, and if it's half way through the 1st set and you're trying to walk through the 12th row, don't trip over the guy on the cement in a fetal position. He will be OK in a few minutes.
Cheers
And don't forget to look for Miss Australia!

the "review" in Compendium was less-than-complimentary
While it's not 8/27/72, it still has some good stuff.
Some of those compendium reviews were very off-target, written by some very cranky yutzes.

Anniversary show 12/15/86 Oakland.
39 years ago I was up in Oakland for Garcia's 1st show back with the Dead, all I can say is you should have been there. Garcia kicked it off with Touch of Grey and the crowd just exploded! Like I say you had to be there. What a great birthday present.
