    My First Show
One of the previous posters said that this place was in the middle of nowhere and indeed it is-the "Southern Tier" of NY state- rural cow/dairy country. This was one of those college dates that the band picked up(see itinerary) that had them running all over the place on the east coast during late spring 1970. The show was staged in the gym from what I remember. The reason that stands out in my mind is because the school made a huge deal that there was to be no smoking because they had just installed new flooring and didn't want it damaged. Good luck...... Sorry, nobody got that memo...... Needless to say the "no smoking" ban was impossible to enforce and there was plenty of it. This was my first show and my expectations leading up to it were extremely high having been wearing out my copy of Workingman's Dead since it dropped. Three of my high school buddies and I drove from Albany to catch the show- we had a mutual friend that was attending the school and after meeting up with him dropped some acid (some not so spectacular blotter if I recall) and all loaded into the gym. It was pretty well attended, smokey, crowded, not the most ideal atmosphere to be tripping actually. I spent most of the show just dealing with the totality of weirdness that was going on. They played a pretty good show that night but I was yet to have my best night with the band. That occurred in Boston at the Music Hall 12/2/71. The wait was worth every minute- I had fifth row seats and it was the first show with Pigpen in a while (he had been AWOL for the previous 14 shows due to health problems).

    Delhi Show
This was my first show and I walked out.I guess I wasn't ready yet.I heard some of the music from this show and it was not the boys at their best.It might be because Delhi is about 4hrs from NYC,out in the middle of nowhere.I went to school there and lived in a town named Bovina Center...that should explain everything. Now,after more than 130 shows,I'm so happy that it wasn't my last show.
