You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. I just finished listening to this whole show, it fairly smokes! There's a killer Scarlet/Fire in the Cornell mode (i.e., spot-on and energized with a super-sweet Jerry solo in Scarlet), a real smooth Terrapin and a moment in drums that kinda scared the shit outta me.
I hope that's not too much in the way of a hint! It's almost midnite though so maybe that's not such a bad thing if it is...
I just wanted to thank Dead.net and also the Heads that help out on here. The whole thing is truly beautiful in every sense of the word and can in no means be interpreted using mere words.
y'know, I wish they wouldn't post these things right when I gotta leave for work... ahhhh, so it goes!
Does anyone know if there is any way I can get the "He's Gone (B) @ L'Olympia Theater Paris France - 5/4/72"? I missed one day, and of course, now I cannot download it!
Thanks for the help!
thanks for yesterdays download. missed it due to being on the road. getting the new song is always the high light of my day. thanks again :)
Wow, that (this) show is seriously hot
Maybe I'm just caught up in the moment, but that's fine - Being a --this year-- digger for just a little while, this is it
Great separation, interplay - this made my day
Thanks for the poke GD/Rhino/Whoever!
This was the first day that I missed the morning.
Just got home and all your hints were fun to read. Hadn't used hints before.
I'm tired, and baked, and it took me like 20 minutes to understand what you all were talking about. I'm like: Oh right. Holiday. Far out man!
I love this S#*%!
finally! completion!touchdown!GratefulDead!theMusicNeverStopped!ok Weir gonna take a little break everbody hang loose
for missed songs try this it should get you back on track
Thinks he may have given me a hint! I am having too much fun! Wooo Hoooo! I think I have it! Probably not the 1st! ☮
I pretty much knew in my heart it was from 78. Reading some of the clues pointed me in a direction, along with my Deadbase X to help narrow it down more. This is fun.
There's a band out on the highway
They're high stepping into town
I am pretty sure this is The Music Never Stopped by The Gratefull Dead.
Congrats to SIRMick. I've enjoyed plenty of your contributions and I thank you for them.
No clue last night. A "pop quiz" would be an interesting, especially since I don't have to work today and I'd have time for research.
One of the things I like about this promotion is when some of the heads write, "Hey, I was at this show!" That's cool, especial if they give a little story of that day, like, "That was the show where I got separated from my brother and I got a ride home from a girl I never met before. I ended up getting married to her three years later."
SirMick?!?! SIR-Bleedin-MICK?!?!? How the HAY-el did he manage to win yesterday's when he couldn't even guess the New Speedway from 09-20-70?!?
(Oh, wait; here's a clue for you--SHN 27583!!!!!)
Yeesh! Here's hoping David picks Reuben and Cherise before this contest is over. I doubt I'll stand a chance otherwise.
i think just a sneaky trick to get us to this site....it only worked two times for me.
There were a couple I missed, much appreciated.
lovin these songs cant wait to hear the rest!!!
lovin these songs cant wait to hear the rest!!!
I'm in. Man this is too easy.

I am going with the warfield, 10/3/80
Okee Dokee' Here we go again
It'll be there. They just need to file the file in the directory. Keep trying.
0 kb! I've found over the past 11 days that the servers respond better by late afternoon. Hang in there!
If the thunder don't get ya...
Yeah, the download is fail. Nothing there but an empty file name.
Let´s hope it never stops! It´s good to be Grateful for every day it continues...Kristjan Aunver (www.movio.se)
First to get a 0kb download! I'M THE WOMAN! lol
Good Luck to ALL!
Sorry, couldn't resist.
We can play the Music Never Stopped, but downloading is a problem. I hear Donna...Good luck, guessers,,,
the music never started
Ah, you Crazy Roosters!
Going with just my ear today! And one BIG guess!
...for the downloading.
donna is singing....
I managed to be here for the song coming on line.
It took a few tries, but I got the whole thing. 20.3 MB, 8:52
file size 20.3 MB
8:52, 20.3 megs...site's running swell for over 500 online. Why I remember, back in the day...;)
well now F.T.48
listen in at 23 seconds and there is something that might help you distinguish it
8:52 for me
8:52 for me
My downloaded file:
Size: 21.3 MB (21,287,770 bytes)
my policy is to listen now, make my guess, and download later today (when the site is less crowded)
I had to completely guess on this TMNS, never heard it before!
Okay download seems to be working. Checked, and this is not from 10/3/80 as guessed. Into drum is different, 10/3/80 ran longer, and this has some decently savage runs toward the end not present in the 10/3/80 version. That version ran about 7:25 song length, this file is 8:52 long, and the song runs 8:36 of that, placing it over 1 minute longer than the Warfield version guessed.
8:52 20.3 mb
