You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Old version, followed by.... I think I got it.
The last 5 songs all under nine minutes. Bummer. Especially after 7 of 11 (counting the B versions) were all over ten, with some nice jamming...
Anyway, thanks for this GREAT program/opportunity.
Hopefully, tomorrow's song will be West LA Fadeaway! ;-)
I might have stumbled blindly onto the right show pretty early today!
Wow, I was really surprised to see that it was played only 10x pre-retirement (2x '69, 6x '70, 2x '71). And I always thought it was called Minglewood Blues until it was revived. Still so much to learn.
Hopefully, somebody will snip this song to cut off the extra one minute of dead air - and then post the link here.
Song comes in at about 4:30 with an extra minute of dead air. 12.5 MB.

An excellent version for sure. ("Yip-Yaw!")
