30 Days Of Dead - November 15th
+ More Info
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Log in now and enter to win! - Less Info
When you rarely listen to the Dead past 1974 it makes a song like this extremely difficult to figure out.
Hey Canyon, Thanks so much for the track layout and the album covers. I wanted to ask how you were breaking your tracks down to album? Thanks so much! November is my birthday, and this is the BEST present I could ask for.
I always download to my "music" folder. Then you click on the track and it automatically opens in WMP, unless you changed your default setting.
The artwork is freakin' awesome, man! (Love those little dancing bears and terrapins...) Wait a minute... are those dancing "Wake of the Flood" RAVENS, too? Ha ha. Love it! :-)
...they usually go up around 9 PM or so Eastern Time. Unless they don't, like last Friday LOL.
I've been copying them into a comment on the current day's thread here, and nobody's bitched about it yet (not that it matters) so I'll probably keep doing it. Unless I don't. LOL again.
As I understand the structure of the links to download the mp3 files, the URL which will get you the file is:
as one single string of characters, where "xxxxxxx" (without "quotation marks") is the title of the song.
Now some titles might be harder to guess than others but "truckin" was easy!
You should not have any spaces in the URL - like after the "php?" or in the titles either...
.. have a chance at today's selection ! I'm not a facebooker , though , and I'll take any help I can get . Where do we view theses 'hints' ? Thanks again for a fun contest where we all get a little kindof prize !!
Why is it when I download the free mp3's to my windows media player it won't let me save it as to play at a later date?
Anyone please.......is there a way a guy can download and save these 30 days of the dead and play at a later date?
Shut your eyes and listen, to the colors in your mind.
I correctly guessed yesterday's song so I've got one out of fifteen.
Yay! Not great but better than zero. :D
Everyone's sayin' that HG-B isn't available, but it's right there on Roots of the Dead... Only trouble is, yeah, gee whiz, it'll play but if you're usin' a Mac, ya can't "right click" on anything to actually hook up with it for like, keeps... And otherwise (Not havin' access to Mr. Gates' technology)... ...Seems like "it ain't available!" Why are we bein' gamed and all? The downloads on 30 days load into I Tunes perfectly, what's the prob with HG-B??? Oh, yeah, maybe I'll have to hook up a cheap-ass cassette player to my headphone port... ...That's really gonna sound great when I "spread the joy" amongst my friends. This little stream has at least one other post about this, and I guess, we're just wonderin' "What gives???" Help (Is it really on the way??? I need it, I play banjo...)!!! Sorry for the flames, but I'm just a-sayin'...
Best Wishes to All for a Deadly Holiday Season,
Oooooooh, raise the main sail.
"Better get it in there"
Oooooooh, lash the mast.
Bob's occasional improv "Better get it in there" not present in 11/2/79. Sometimes he'll say "Better get it in there boy" too.
the eyes are blind
...awesome. That three night run at Winterland in March '77 looks pretty kewl.
(waiting for the Drumzzzzzzzzzzzz)

If you are having trouble downloading the whole this the server is really busy and sometimes overloads....what you need to do is clear your browsers cache and the old file and try it again. I've listed the times of each download and sizes for your convenience in comparing.
Also if you saved previous downloads and can't find them make sure you go to your computer search (start button>start search) and put *estimatedprophet* or *truckin* etc. and you will find out what folder you put them in....this is your default area you save downloads which can be changed if you click save and specify a folder.
If there is such a possibility, those jazzy China's from '73-74 are unbeatable.
Congratulations to JackStraw, from Colorado, on his selection. I shoot from the hip on many of my guesses, occasionally hitting the target if I take enough time to think and pick.
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, NY
I appreciate it !! And I'm gonna try to find it , too..
Good Luck !
Just gives you an idea of the song title the next day, so you can get a head start on listening to the dozens/hundreds of versions. The discussion thread is usually pretty amusing though.
Don't need a Facebook account, either --
I am lost in a sea of Lost Sailor/Saints from the 79-80 era -- an era I enjoy but don't listen to enough. My guess, without reading any clues, is Fall '79 but this one will evade me.
Hmmm. Nothing yet from 1974.
hey i am not complaining about free grateful dead music
but the last 4 tunes and the majority of the last 2 weeks have been
can we get some pig, phil, and especially some more jerry?
Yeah, agree with pemba, what else can I say, Jerry is the spirit of the Dead, I'm sure we all agree on that!
Where is the full list of songs that you can download?
on the 12th. TO the guy downloading to Window Media, Next time save it to a folder on your C: drive. The other files are thEre, you need to search the c: for them . probably in C:\Windows\temp. If you don't know how to search your computer, I can't help you. Google how to search the hard drive of whatever OS you have
I'm lookin' to trade alot of 70's stuff for 80's and 90's. Please and Thanks
It makes me smile, hair stand up on the back of my neck, to goose bumps listening to these downloads
Taking me back to when I heard them
Awesome DEAD.net keep em comin'
@ Mr Bling, it's always 420 somewhere :))
Hey, I made this mistake on day 1, when you start are you seeing a window asking to "run" or "Save"? Hit Save, and as some one else said, search your 'putah if you can't find it - START should offer a search field.
May there be light where there was once none!
May there be music where there was once silence!!
@ D stahce - they are only giving away "there" music.
May there be light where there was once none!
May there be music where there was once silence!!
Beat you again Helena ;)
Clue: This is the first Phil Lesh-penned tune to appear on a Grateful Dead record.

Anyone know about artwork for this? I've got a jpeg for the "30 days of dead" but heard someone was putting together artwork for individual CD's (compiled from the downloads)... haven't seen anything else posted
CanyonCritter has posted a couple. See this post:
This is one of my favorite songs!!!!! And nice to come home from work to on a touch of gray monday in Oregon...
Great 80's show with Brent....
I was wondering if anyone had the song before Truckin' (2 days ago?).
I missed He's Gone, "B", is there anyway to get it still
Doubt I was the first to guess the show tonight, but pretty sure I was on the mark! Being from NY and all..... (^_^)
This is so much fun! If any of you decision makers are actually reading this posts, I have a cool twist I would like to recommend to all of this. How about posting some "treasure hunt" stats??? It would be really cool and would probably engage even more participants to know how many folks are guessing each night, how many may have actually got their guess correct, see tallies for the week, the overall 30 days, etc.... I know it would make the game more fun and engaging for me.
Thanks for bringing out the geeky dead head in me again. (^_^)
....one of my very favorites, too. I only saw one (in '85), and never again until this August in Eugene! Lovely.
I'm lovin' the Bob ~ they'll get back to Jerry. Six of the first nine tunes were Jerry. Still half a month to go.....
To the person who posted the 7 Walkers, thanks ~ just got word mine's in the mail today (along with Pow Wow)! A rather nice Monday in Deadland, I must say.
We are half way thru & we will have a 30 (32 with B's so far) track unreleased set! I could see this every month! :)
The mystery venue contest is lots of fun too! Getting to find some new shows too when playing ♫ detective!
Thanks Everyone! ☮☮☮
Classic '80's vocal maneuver from Bob.
I always enjoyed this duo early in the second set. The band gets the place jumpin' crazy and Jerry comes along to smooth us further into the groove with a Stella Blue, High Time, China Doll, etc. Wow. Yes indeed, more Jerry, especially the long slow ones!! Maybe that 12 Days of Jerry idea will get some momentum??? Be well everybody.
ChinaCat -> Rider & Sailor -> Saint are two songs each....so that's 19 already....!
...based on the Facebook clue for the next day LMAO.
(and c'mon already: Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace)
psyched for tomorrow's tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any toothless crones care to dance?
ChinaCat -> Rider & Sailor -> Saint are two songs each....so that's 19 it just keeps getting better!
...that all the Radio City and Warfield tunes featured so far on 30 Days of Dead are portentous of a release or set of releases! Congrats Cosmic Wolf on the weekly prize!!
no wonder it sounds so good, now that would be a box set, the radio city music hall box set, or the warfield box set, I'd take em both.
I was at this show. you'd think I'd remember this version after 30 years, or so. :-)
I actually got the song right yesterday. I'll pat myself on the back for that one.
