We're on a mission to make a miracle every day. As a token of our appreciation for making 2010 an epic year, we're giving away a high-quality 320Kbps download every day this November. That's 30 days of Dead! Intrigued? We're also going to put your knowledge to the test and give you the chance to win some great music from the Dead.
                                                     + More Info
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.

Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Log in now and enter to win!
                                                   - Less Info
We haven't selected a daily winner yet. The first person to answer correctly will get to pick a Road Trips of their choice. To get started, login or register using the form above.
We haven't selected a winner for the week of 11/22 yet!

Now wait a second...

Hey, now, hey now - let's all be kind!

If you want a hint, check under Comment viewing options, and increase it to like 100 per page. Takes a second longer, unless you are on dial up, in which case, go to Starbucks or the Library. Dial up, sheesh.

Anyway, then the long and lovely posts fly by, and we are all on one page.

Now, everyone hug, and let's roll a fresh one and listen to the music play.

Short but sweet

That sweet sweet jelly's so good. Love this tune. I was a little
surprised at how small the file was, and thought Ididn't have it
all, but I guess I do. 9.44 mb, at 4:07. Nice version. Thanks
again to Dead.net for doing this, and my hats off to Canyon
Critter for all the help with links, and the artwork.

Snow and ice here, which means a day off to listen to the Dead! Woo-hoo!

Nice choice today... always loved Dupree! Like to see Scarlet>Fire, Jack Straw, H>S>Franklin's, Eyes and BT Wind, but I'll take what I'm given and like it!

Much love to CC - keep those loooooooooong posts coming!

Peace and love to all! Yipee!

CC, you've saved my bacon a couple of times this month. Many thanks (again) and ignore the naysayer. He's definitely a minority opinion.

Don't Forget to Check out the Jazzy Phil Bombs!

Every Monday here on Dead.Net David Lemiuex plays glimpses of sets straight from the Vault. This weeks Playin>UJB>Playin Jam from 1974 is really jazzy and full of Phil Bombs!

If you haven't got your fix of Vault stuff, they are archived too! You used to be able to download them, but now they only stream.

Also on Wednesday's David Gans post older Dead Hour Shows which are always fun!

Wow - this really got out of

Wow - this really got out of hand. I tend to favor brevity, but not everybody does. That's ok.
The posts do get to be a little cumbersome on iPhones, but that is the nature of a lot of websites when viewed on a phone (or small handheld). That is what prompted my initial post. It was nothing personal against Critter Canyon nor anybody else here.
I really like reading what people post about the daily song and I just made a plea to make it a little easier to do so.
Good luck on tomorrow's song (I'm still hoping for the Other One).

I have a hard time understanding

why anyone would be giving crap to Canyon Critter given all the FREE WORK he's been doing with this FREE MUSIC that we all are so lucky to have at our disposal. Let's keep to the appreciation side of the road for the 30 Days of the Dead. We've got plenty of time to whine later :-)

Kudos to Critter for everything he's done to help out here!

These are gonna make some great Christmas Presents!

Besides the fact that I get to go home for New Years shows, I'll be shopping on Telegraph Avenue in Bezerkeley as is customary, but the best part is alot of my gifts are gonna be the compilations of these 30 Days of Dead...and thanks to Dead.net they are free!!!

Kind helps out in this economy.

Not looking right

It is definitely harder to find than you'd expect, especially with so few versions to choose from. But it's there. Thanks for the hint cbs73. It was my first pick originally five minutes after I downloaded it, but then the technical issues made me hesitate. Then I had to take a break to go to Thanksgiving dinner at my daughter's school. Didn't figure it out in earnest until almost 2 p.m. Still jonesin' for a '74 Eyes.

30 nites of dead

A suggestion to the powers that be
since we're receiving MP3 quality, how about snagging some 74 material from the wall, for the 30 nites of dead; so that, we can, arguably, get the highest fidelity in an MP3 format?

every adversity carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.

New Speedway Boogie (Nov 1)

This is for PA Quinn the Eskimo: New Speedway Boogie, Fillmore East, NY, NY- 9/20/70. This is one of the acoustic/electric hybrid versions of this Workingman’s Dead classic. Although not residing in the Grateful Dead’s master tape collection, this was drawn from the tapes recorded by the Fillmore East crew.

All song info and links avaialble at: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11423787/3Phase/30_DOD.htm

Thanks to Scott and the crew at Dead.net. Have a Grateful Day and a Grateful Thanksgiving!

Sounds raw. I agree with whoever said it sounds pre-Fillmore (3/69)...not as polished. Jerry definitely on electric here. I'm guessing 2/15 at the Electric Factory. Wild guess, didn't put it in until 3:40pm eastern standard. It's always fun to hear new, unreleased material. Thanks again to everyone involved!

Loving every minute!

This was an unexpected number today, love those crazy time signatures on Dupree's! Sounds like an early version, I guess must be '69, can't get any closer....

'.. but that's a cigarette I can never tell' there we are, just to show I've listened to it! hahaha:-) Must be a giveaway if you've heard this one before...

Still hoping for a Stella Blue, would be far out!
