30 Days Of Dead - November 2nd
+ More Info
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Log in now and enter to win! - Less Info
12-31-68 winterland my guess
Anyone make some album art for the 30 Days of Dead? Imde one crude attempt but I haven't figured out how to post it yet. Will try later.
HOW MANY STRANGERS SHOW UP IN HERE WHEN THER IS FREE SHIT,STOP MOANING AND GIVE THE ADMIN STAFF A BREAK BE PATIENT.
i guessed 10/31/68 at the matrix, that's further off than i figured. the feel was super similar to a 10/30/68 show at the matrix i have that is billed under mickey & the heartbeats or something close to that. can't wait for todays tune!
Im goin with 11-1-69 The Silver Dollar Fair in Chico, CA
I've missed the links the past two days.
Can y'all keep the link to the download up, till at least Midnite or so each day? PDT
I've tried for two days to get the download and whatever gismo we're supposed to click isn't showing up on my page either.
too bad it ended after only two days. Oh, well.
Enjoying the Dark Star........sadly missed yesterday but won't miss the next 28.
And my venue and date must of been wrong :(
Quality is not expensive, the lack of it often is.
Where is the link ofr the free daily download? I can't find it?
Thanx though...it was a nice try
Definitely sounds like Jerry is playing a Gipson SG, maybe the caffeine hasn't kicked in yet but I'd say it sounds like 69...but where is the question? But that often is the question....
how do u download the song??
how do I listen to and download the daily song?
It's just like being the first caller in a radio contest. Jammed phone lines were always part of the game, and the satisfaction for the winner. (I think a random drawing at day's end would be alot less fair, because then anyone could just steal expert guesses from these posts & possibly win.)
Pigpen-era (possibly TC-era) Dark Star? Can't wait to get home this evening!
These people Not to mention the band and many others.
Do so much.so a computer glitch sheet happens.
Do you really believe you will miss the down load. Like you do not know what copy it is now. Plus you know people are/ have already posted so ya can get it on facebook. Please if you can to better make a site. These people work(Marye) and the Crew @deadnet. . Do so much and it seems all most can do is criticize and whine please do better.
Because since this all began these are the only ones who do what they do so well. Thank The Universe For The GRATEFUL DEAD.
And lets be nice the system seems fine and im sure they will leave a place for you to grab all that you NEED.
Thanks for your time

let's make all this a bit more equitable please:
1. open the prizes up to all Deadheads, not just those living on mainland US
2. randomly draw the winner from thiose who get the answers right (giving to the first favours those in specific time zones, with super internet, and the time away from work commitments)
3. increase the server capacity (it takes an age for some of us to download the tracks)
Tried downloading the darkstar several times, and finally got it to (apparently) complete and decode - but my copy is only 18 1/2 min long. Thought that ending was a little abrupt ;).
Yeah, keeping the links live for at least a few days would be kind. What's the deal with the poor d/l performance, thought that was a perfected science? Can't see going to the effort of downloading full shows if I can't even get one song to show up complete.
I just want to download the "Dark Star", but it keeps screwing up when I try to download it :(
I got the first day's song, but the second day's is gone.
Maybe they should rename the promotion, "30 minutes of 30 days of Dead".
why cant I find the link to download dark star?
It's not fair that is only for American citizens ...
My guess is FILLMORE WEST, JUNE 5, 1969
Greetings to all deadheads in the world ...
Marcelo from Brazil
talkin bout where to play.... Union County Arts Center in Rahway NJ. If it was good enough for Johny Cash..... Also, what about the Prudential Center in Newark.. The sound there is Fantastic, half step from the train station, bouncers are cool, what about it, Bob???? Maybe YOU had to much to fast, HE just came to play guitar...... Meadowlandschris
Maybe I'm feeling a little mentally challenged based on the astounding nature of yesterday's election results, but I'm not finding a link to today's download. A little help please....
Sounded like March 5, 1972 from San Franciso, CA Winterland jam into Morning Dew. At least I took a shot at it.
Yep, it's gotta be Althea. This is too cool...
Can't figure out where to listen to the songs. Can anyone help a 'head out?
I doubt that anyone cares but that's a British train!
Get out and vote. Thanks for the free downloads but unfortunately it would not submit when I clicked. Oh well, a free dl is better then nothing.
my email is email@example.com in case anyone wants to be a nice person and send the New Speedway Boogie from yesterday to me because I didn't hear about the 30 Days Of Dead thing until today.
Thanks in advance
The FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) file format is clearly the superior format for quality DL's.
1) FLAC files are verifiable. You can decode and/or test your file to determine a successful transfer. These MP3's can often appear complete but terminate before the full transfer. Unsuccessful DL's require repeated attempts which can overload the system.
2) FLAC files offer a full audio (lossless) spectrum of the recording. MP3's clip the high and low end frequencies resulting in a smaller file to facilitate a quicker and cheaper transfer.
The additional bandwith argument for FLAC is minor. Many bands are going beyond the FLAC 16 standard and providing FLAC 24 Bit files, WHY? Because they sound better! The archive provides thousands of FLAC DL's free of charge.
The Grateful Dead have always been about "Searching for the Sound". If you think the MP3 format is good enough, you will still be searching for the sound for a long, long time.
Best Wishes-Jimmy the Cop
How dare any of you for being negative.
Tell which other Band does so much for YOU.
Give it a rest a free offer 300,000 show up.
And you dont think that may cause a issue.
Do not be silly you know they will make all songs that had a issue available stop acting like whiners.
PLEASE ITS A GIFT. have you given this much lately?
Let the tech do the work read a post go to Face book and learn.

There is a distinct lyric flub around 19:30. Jerry sings something like "Mirror Crackters" or something like that instead on "Mirror Shatters". It seems as he starts to sing Crack he realizes it should be Shatters and tries to slur Crack into Shatters.
What's up with that? Listened to both of the first 2 days worth, enjoyed immensely, downloaded happily, and then went to replay them today, on the 3rd and found out the files had been cut....sadly...and can't get to them again...
I'm an ol' tape trader with boxes full of cassettes, but I'm at work!!!
Absolutely certain of the date. Happy to have figured it out, but unfortunately there's no way I'm the first at this point. Some of have jobs to do!
I just found out about this, and am beyond bummed to see what I'd missed getting on the 1st and 2nd. Can you re-enable the download links, pretty please?
I'm late to the party but I'm guessing early '69. Who cares, though, it's a free Dark Star download from the vault. Jerry's spirit lives on!
soul11man's way of selecting the winner is way more dead-like than to just give it to the first one with the correct answer-internet connections aside....
soul11man and hoteyman make a very good point.
closed my eyes and went random.... LOL What do you suppose the odds of getting it correct that way is?
Those who said it was 6/5/69 at the Fillmore West in San Fran were correct. The two distinct signals are: first, the bit of drums at the end of Sittin' on Top of the World and then the exact intro, and second, the previously mentioned lyrics flub at somewhere around 19 minutes; Jerry sings "crack-ters" and seems to laugh a little.
I'm obviously not the first to submit this answer though, I got yesterday's right also, so I'm hoping to possibly win the weekly contest. I see both the pros and cons of this system, so I think whatever happens will happen, and it's great to get a free song each day!
Having fun guessing but where are the answers posted?
I don't suppose there is a way to download the song from yesterday?
Missed Day #1!!!! How can I get the download?
Having fun guessing but where are the answers posted? What show was New Speedway Boogie from?
