Grateful Dead
30 Days Of Dead - November 3rd
+ More Info
You know your Ables from your Bakers from your C's, but can your finely tuned ears differentiate the cosmic "comeback" tour from a spacey 70's show? Each day we'll post a free download from one of the Dead's coveted shows. Will it be from that magical night at Madison Square Garden in '93 or from way back when they were just starting to warm it up at Winterland? Is that Pigpen's harmonica we hear? Brent on keys? Step right up and try your hand.
Each day, the first person to guess the venue & date correctly will get a Road Trips of their choice. If you’re not first but you've answered correctly, you will also be automatically entered for a weekly prize of THE WARNER BROTHERS STUDIO ALBUMS VINYL BOX (EXCLUSIVE EDITION) or a FORMERLY THE WARLOCKS boxed set. Go stuff.
Thanks Woody.
Nice job on the links. Keep it up. Very helpful!
The files are pretty big for sharing via e-mails.

I'm logged in, but I can't find where the dates & venues get displayed, once there's a winner. (I don't see the winners either) Can someone help?
It's definitely either 79 or 80 and I'm leaning toward late, late '79, Nov or Dec.
This is a great idea, btw!! Everybody loves a free download!
I think its 79-81 too. Brent is there, but not so loud as later in the decade. Your right, Jerry sounds young and healthy too. Guitar pitch is distinct. This show has a lot of reverb in the venue. I took a guess, 12-6-79. I was surprisingly close yesterday, one month off. Though I only feel like I can narrow to parts of year. Tough challenge for me but fun. Thanks.
Love this song!
I agree with early 80's. Jerry's voice sounds old but not too old. That's definitely Brent on keys. And Jerry's not using MIDI on his guitar yet. "Althea" was one of the songs he liked to use MIDI on once he got that technology.
I'll say Anchorage 6/20/1980. West High Aud., sounds like an early 80's Jerry.
YUP!! 3/14/81... I think thats it!!

I tagged the first three songs with this for use on my ipod.
