Thank you for playing 30 Days of Dead. The answer to this day's contest is:
Richmond, VA, Mosque
05/25/1977
These two Weir Barlow tunes, which debuted on the Kingfish album, were played by the Grateful Dead starting in 1976, with the final performance on 10/31/84 at BCT in Berkeley (aside from an attempt at Supplication in 1993). This is from the first installment of Dave’s Picks.
Today's winner is: Bobloblaw

Thanks for a nice collection of live Dead. I'm not one who has a billion recordings with every show, so it's nice to get a good variety of material to incorporate into my iTunes library. I'll enjoy.
One thing I'd like to see if you do this again - a couple of really good renditions of the "new songs" (i.e. the post-Built To Last songs). I see on the "Roots of the Grateful Dead" site there's a version of So Many Roads from last year's 30 Days. Now maybe Lazy River Road and Way To Go Home? Just a thought - whatever gets out there will be good.
Thank you dead.net for this year's, and last year's, 30 Days of the Dead, as well as for discounts & free shipping on Cyber Monday.
Thanks to all the fine folks that helped me get the dates and venues from last year to add to my archive... I even downloaded the Dec 1st scarlet>fire that I somehow missed last year....And a little comment ( Like there was ever a little comment from a dead head) on Lazy lightning, Being of the age to bask in the early to late 7o's in San Diego I got to see Kingfish a couple times at the tiny " almost perfect" La Paloma Theater in Encinitas. Robbie and Bobby did a much more concise fast paced "southern rock" version of The Classic Lazy>Supplication that I don't think Uncle Jerry ever really caught on to. I am not saying I don't love Jerry"s versions ...I am just saying to all you kids if you really want to hear Lazy/Sup done as a rave up...dig into the Kingfish Tapes...Thanks to all of you,It has been a Gas , See ya next year!
can be found here as well as this years.
they also have the b sides and bonus tune
http://www.jambandseurope.com/30days.htm
happy hunting
p.s. anyone know if there were b sides or bonus tracks this year?
Awesome!!!! Thanks friend.
I echo that sentiment...new job...new computer...lost all the files...how about a link?
Are there any links for last year's 30 days? I lost the disc I archived them on and would love to take another listen.
Thanks!
Will there be a reload of the Nov 30th download? The current one is at 128k. Many advance thanks.
Hi all - I've just put all 30 of this years' tunes up for streaming and download at my web site, Dead Roots - http://deadroots.net/content/30-days-2011. I'm working on getting album art and some other stuff together. There will also be a link to a ZIP file of all the songs in just a few minutes. Grateful holidays to all!
found the page at your site and noticed you doubled up the 5th, 7th, and 18th so tracks only #ed to 27. also 2010 is listed on each track not 2011? thanks for the work. used your site earlier today to download the songs i missed from last year.
Actually at the 6/27/85 show at SPAC Jerry, Brent and the band tried desperately to get bob to do lazy > sup after crazy fingers but he would not touch it with a ten foot pole and Jerry just gave up and went into high time.
Great show and worth a listen....
I remember that, it was hard listening to the Boys trying hard to get Bobby to bite, but as you accurately put it, he wasn't having any of it.
But I do recall they settled on a nice Supplication Jam, which as cool as it was, I still wanted the full Lazy Lightning. Eh, call me hard to please...
i remember that!!! i really liked spac. my fav show was the 84 one. i remember thinking, during the slow part in wharf rat, that i felt like i was in church...so cool. my neighbors 'goods' may have helped a bit...
Just getting this message bumped to the top of the boards ;)
And to complete yet another AMAZING month of Dead tunes, here's a compilation for all you folks that don't feel like downloading each individual song.
I've given them track numbers, titled them, added the dates of each song, categorized, ect and split them into 4 discs.
I also included a piece of album artwork that I made for this release. It's more for a large CD case with multiple CD inserts, but works for digital identification in iTunes and other music programs just as well.
So without further ado..
Download link for song compilation:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8N41XKGI
And here is the artwork that's included with that:

Have a grateful day. :)
Kia ora all...
Hoping last year for S>fire....
It was grate this year to receive the gift.
Also to hear a tune from Cal St. Dom 90
was special being my last show before i
tripped to NZ for the first time.
The encore last time was heavy.
Saw the dead again, but not Brent...r.i.p.
Still down under, 30 days makes me feel
closer to you all.
Kia kaha amigos
juan
And on the 31st Day...
Thank you so much for all of this. I can't recall any other band that gives me 30 days of free music from the depths of the archives and such great shows.
The discussion and annual contest game will continue here:
Last year I made up a couple of games and gave out things like The Creamery Benefit Show of 8-27-1972 DVD.
I worked hard on some new artwork for this year, and will add the back covers to the rest of the dead.net art already posted. Last night I could only stay up for a few hours dew to phone calls. I'll finish it up in the link above.
Thanks for the list as well, I'll be using that to finish up the backs and the 6 Volumes.
See you all this eve after work.
~Love is Real~
P.S. Yes this is a team effort. Like 3phase putting up the file and everyone else posting the links, etc. We are a family aren't we....Please make sure you stop by the 31st Day link (above) in the Dead.Net forum for everything related 30 Days of Dead in the future. All information and links and lists and contests will be posted there
I just got a big project for today, so I'll be delaying the artwork/contest by a day...sorry work calls.
Hey CC Thanks so much for all your art and helpful enthusiasm.I feel So much for your efforts , and having 3phase to chime in on thec aspects is so

hey guys, i stumbled across this link posted earlier, thank you to who posted it.
http://deadroots.net/30days
i logged in and started collecting the free tracks mid november last year and now just downloaded all the tracks i missed.
yee ha! starting to get good at this stuff, THANK YOU DEAD.NET!!!
I'm not sure about anyone else, but I've been trying to download these songs for a couple of weeks-ish. Only thing I get is to submit my email or take the challenge, but neither is offering any downloads. I've tried right clicking and there isn't the regular "save download as" option as mentioned by someone.
If anyone figures out how to do this, please post an update...preferably under the November 30th link.
Thanks Bunches,
unicornindy =)
Most of us experience a download option that works... what browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser to see if its different?
once you submit your email a link will show up below the submit area, click on link and track will start playing. while on that page go to "file" atop your computer and select "save file as" . i save to my desktop, once saved open it and it will open itunes adding the track. good luck
Greetings,
First off, thanks for another wonderful present!
Second, when I downloaded the files, I didn’t make note of the actual names of the songs I was downloading. I wonder if there is a listing of actual songs that corresponds to the name of the download.
I know, I want everything.
Either way, THANKS AGAIN.
Steve
Just thought I'd point out that November, or Movember, is a charity driven thing when men grow their mustaches out for the month of November. Coincidence that it's the same month as the 30 days of free dead? I think not!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movember
Hi All,
Looking for an old Rolling Stone, within the last ten years. They did a diagram in the issue marking out all the amazing bands and products that the Grateful Dead created.
Anyone remember when that was issued? Date/Year approximately.
Anyone actually have it and can send to me?
Thanks!
Chriss
just want to that you for the 30 Days of Dead downloads! so much fun and something to look forward to each day of November. Thanks to all involved!
Now that the 30 days are done (unless there's a bonus 31st day like last year. . . anyone?!) it's time for reflection. I will organize the tunes by year/era which worked out really well last year when I had a 60's disc, early 70's, late 70's, etc. Simply label the tracks with the year first (i.e. 77-5-25 lastlazy) and voila. We'll see if the monster tracks from 72-74 this year will work with the format.
Otherwise, my favorites were the obscure versions, like the 1st Speedway and the crazy Slipknot, although there were not as many of these as last year.
*P.S. I just received the '72 show from the Beat Club in Bremen and it is unlike anything I've ever heard. I love hearing the false starts with hilarious consequences (Truckin' flounders after 1 minute, instruments crashing, Bobby comically wails "oh no" as Jerry's guitar makes it sound like a cartoon!)
Thanks for everything!
Peace
Hi there Dave Lemieux and all !
I just wanted to add my 2 cents here; Many thanks to Dave and all the parties involved for making another great contest ! I know many or most have better computer skills than I, so it's very appreciated when y'all post cover art , format timings and hints ! I'll miss this contest, but it's been an excellent way to jumpstart some missing holiday feelings !
Cheers and fare you well
uncle jonny
Here is my guess for the CD breakdown: Vol 1 we have the back so we know is days 1-5 (total 55:32). Vol 2 could be days 6-8 (61:27); Vol 3 days 9-13 (60:52); Vol 4 days 14-21 (62:00); Vol 5 days 22-26 (63:40); and Vol 6 days 27-30 (59:33). I think this would give the most even elapsed playing times for the CDs and still have the 30 days in order.
Also, from last year I had 5 cover art jpeg files. If there were any back covers last year I missed them. I just added them to my iTunes library, so didn't burn them anyway.
I know these ears of mine are getting old but I still noticed that this track is only 128kbps.
Whilst I'm grateful as Hell that this stuff is being made available, I'd really love it if you could upload the 320kbps version of it. Oh, amnd don't forget the backcovers of the amazing artwork.
Many thanks from Australia!
It was a great month of downloads...so thanks to those who made it possible. The Dark Star was the highlight by far.
I figure that since this one is from the forthcoming Dave's Picks Vol. 1 they didn't want to give it away at the higher bitrate.
I'm not surprised they're trying to drum up interest in the new release by giving a taste. The way I see it they should have preserved the 320kpbs format for the 30 Days of Dead. I think the "wow" factor would have been better if this was a December 1 encore/bonus download.
I guess if you're looking for symmetry, on the 30th day last year the Sugar Magnolia was a repeat.
Anyway, if you're burning to disc for whatever reason, you can just leave off this last lower-quality one and still fit on 5 discs without reordering.
Guess lightning can only strike twice with quality, lol
This was really fun ... especially when I had time to play!!
Thanks again.
Cheers!
This is so hot, my guess during my dead years 73 - 88 too hot to miss. But at any rate this is fantastic, fingers crossed I was there, can't wait to see the venue.
Hope I can remember if I was there. i wish you were gonna keep doing this, friend lyin in pain, innocent friends goin to jail, friend goin to hell on a slow boat, take me away to when I was young and there was nothing to worry bout but the next dead show and how to get there. I need a miracle, I need a miracle.
First year I did the downloads and played the game. It was a joy to turn on the computer every day and see the new song--just like a little present to start the day. The game led me to all kinds of new shows I have to listen to. Thank you, Dave and everyone, for putting this month of music together. I'll miss it a ton. And, thanks to all the Heads for the comments and clues. Lot's of fun to read. Take it easy.
Just adding my thanks for the wonderful selection of music giveaway this past 30 Days. Never disappointed. Always loving it. Always appreciative. THANK YOU!!
And thanks to those who compiled the selection into cd volumes, and for the artwork. Just feeling the love...and adding mine.
Thank You ever so much, xo.

Many thanks for this great series! That said, the last track of Lazy Lightning > Supplication -- today's -- is in 128K mp3 and was immediately noticed upon listening. Any chance for a re-upload in 320 mp3.
Hey jjwood, how did you get the download to start with? I'm running out of time and no way to get these songs :(
Thanks,
unicornindy
Encore!
thanks for the last 30 days, it is appreciated.
......for stringing this together and creating some fun trivia all the while. Happy Holidays.
Cheers
Just wanted to thank David for all the wonderful tunes he so generously doled out with the band's permission ... just awesome! As to the Wharf Rat, I was wondering why it wasn't labeled as Spanish Jam->Wharf Rat ... the Other One outro which preceded the Jam was even in there! Would the labeling have made the guess too easy or just oversight? Just curious, not complaining. Thanks again for 30 days of awesome-ocity!
Well, Wharf Rat was played 394 times.
While, Spanish Jam > Wharf Rat was played 4 times...
. . . for 30 great downloads! Although I never submitted a daily guess on the dates, I played the simplified at-home version: each day I would add the new download to my iTunes file guessing where it fit in chronological order. . . .
Again, thanks for sharing all the great, great song selections. My only request would have to be for more hours in the day - I'm still only up to the Bickersham festival on my trip through Europe 72. I'm taking my time and giving each show multiple listenings before moving on. That stuff is beyond belief. Not mention the latest (and last) Road Trips and now a half-dozen more cds of cool stuff. Too much fun!
Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to Dave's Picks!
Can't thank you guys enough...seems like Christmas came early again this year. Today really got me jonesin' for my new Dave's Picks. Happy holidays to all, and have a safe, happy, healthy, dead-filled new year.
What a great month of musical gifts. Kinda like a month long show always anticipating what they do next. I can't wait till next year!!
Off topic kinda, I know we all remember the scorching Scarlet-> Fire hidden in Dick's Picks 13, has anyone defined the show? I thought this would be a great forum for this and one last hurah.
Thanks again to all involved to bringing the music to us in such a creative way and FREE no less!
Wikipedia has the Scarlet Fire being from 11/1/79. Haven't compared the two, just looked it up. Hope this helps ...
