"Estimated Prophet"
Hint:
In its first couple of months, this track was played as stand-alone beauty. After that, though, it opened up at its conclusion, able to segue into any number of songs

When "Estimated Prophet" debuted on 2/26/77, it was played in its own with a tidy ending. On 5/9/77, however, it started going into other songs, most commonly "Eyes Of The World," but also "He's Gone," "Terrapin Station," "The Other One," and others

Standing in a shaft of light...

Love that I got to listen to some of the early versions of Estimated in my research. Based on the few right before this one, sounds like they really started to dial it in by this show. Especially that cool funky synth sound from Keith! :-)

    It's as easy as.............

1,2,3,4,5,6,7. One would think, but not so much for me as I had to listen and listen again before finding the correct hoop to throw my answer in. But a pleasurable search it was. One of the funniest finds was some comments a random DeadHead shared about hearing the lyric "Mike and Gloria gonna' be my name" where "Might and Glory" usually go. All in the Family right? Makes sense to me anyway.

I really love this tune. Something happens to me right after the "they gonna' light my way" into Jerry's guitar solo which forces me up on my feet and makes me start moving my whole body around rhythmically no matter where I'm at.(to the great amusement of anyone watching I'm sure). Pure magic.

Now that's what I call a true "hint." Not to mention the many hints throughout the song. Made a short search of it.

Fun hearing this era of the song, and also a great era for the band.
The song that follows lopes along to start and will now carry me off to la-la-land. Sweet dreams to all.

Kinda fun to sync it up with the Archive version. Can't get it exactly perfect, but with the slight dissonance, it sounds like you're actually in the hall, listening way at the back....

This one took me some work but Bobby's singing finally told me where to go.
If you are patient they will show a sign and you will rise to glory.
Don't worry about me, the boys lit my way home.
My time is coming to be standing on the beach, and I know the sun is going to shine.
Gonna be just like they say, got to love The 30 Days!!

Overall I'm grateful, but whoever is curating these 30 Days in 2023 seems to not know how to search past releases. Is it really that tough to simply put in dates and check?

Just a recollection, down front and center at the Frost, mid 80's. Great shows as the setting always provided. Gumby battled Godzilla. Who recalls that epic battle? That was shortly before, I joined the tapers.

Year 6 with a 90% accuracy rating at least and still not picked for a prize... :( Must be a pick pool of correct guesses each time.

Yes, it is a pool pick of everyone that gets it right. So, keep tryin'. I finally won last year, my sixth year of playing. Of course, it's really all about listening to the music, community and a real good time! Good luck!

hearing Bobby working on his phrasing and syntax, as well as remembering his lines, on multiple versions of this gem has been a highlight of my day. Thanks Dave

I am also having trouble commenting and getting the embed error message even with simple text. Please fix this glitch!

I, too, have had trouble on different days trying to leave a comment, but instead got the embed error message even though I'm certain my words/text were OK. Couple times I just gave up. I've also seen others comment on the same frustration. I do hope admin can take a look at this & fix it(?).
