The Dead Covers Project
Whether you play just like Jerry or like to give the Grateful Dead's beloved classics a unique spin, the 2014 Dead Covers Project wants you! We're calling all musicians - near and far - to share their love for the music and magic of the Dead through video. Show off your musical chops and you just might find yourself front and center on Dead.net during the month of February! The rules are simple - all video submissions must contain a song either written by or recorded by the Dead. How that song is interpreted, however, is entirely up to you.
Upload your video to YouTube, tag it "DeadCoversProject," and we'll make it available to view on the band's official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/gratefuldead. Need a little inspiration? During February, you can also check out an exclusive video playlist featuring a handful of hot submissions at www.facebook.com/gratefuldead. Can't carry a tune? Join the fun by "liking" your favorites on YouTube!
I just came to this treasure trove of music and I can't wait to listen to all the covers here. For me, this is the best thing about the Dead's music -- it's still alive, still inspiring musicians, still touching people's hearts and souls.
Here is the first of a few Dead tunes performed by a collection of central PA musicians who came together to form a "project band" called Buffalo Crossing. We played at the Little Buffalo Arts Festival in October 2013. We were under time constraints, so these are kind of the "Readers Digest" versions. Hire us to play your party and we'll stretch them all all day for you. :)
I hope you will give a listen and a look to my 2014 entry "Valerie."
Hope you enjoy it!
Salutations, Grateful Dead Family!
A facebook friend told me I should submit this to the Dead Covers Project...
It's an audio recording of a GD/Allmans band I've played with for years.
Since we don't have any good live footage, I created a slideshow montage using my own art with a handful of pictures form the Hubble telescope. I did a series of 'old-timey' Jerry Garcia
pictures, with old-fashioned colors, to suit the "Workingman's Dead" feel.
Hope y'all enjoy. Peace.... Lisa Rainbow~~~ <3 :)

Marye do we have to do more than just Tag the video DeadCoversProject ? Does that have to be in the title too ?
I think I got it
Figured I'd throw this video onto this page as well!
I think you don't need to do anything else to get it in our queue, but I'll double check. Anyway it's nice to have them here for folks too.
Finally learned a proper lead for Jack Straw.. thought I'd share with you all
I tagged it to you tube... not seeing the link where they would post the videos for DeadCoversProject... lmk if you have a link :)
Muchos Garcias xoxo
pasting the videos here is good, but make sure you post them to the Dead Covers Project on YouTube so they're entered and we know they're there. Thanks!
We always play on the bus!!! Here's a video from our "Headless" series from a couple years back
