• Dark Star quilt
This is "Dark Star: Transitive Nightfall of Diamonds." I used a traditional star pattern but played with the placement of the stars so that they are unevenly spaced, with some stars only partly showing on the edges to suggest an infinite night sky. The fabric is cosmic-themed and I placed the values so that dark stars were on a medium background (more or less) with the lightest fabric as the "diamonds" falling diagonally across the quilt. I was really thrilled when this quilt won 3rd place Viewer's Choice at our local guild museum show a few years ago.

    Like deadheads, quilters are
Like deadheads, quilters are everywhere. That's the transitive nightfall of diamonds in the middle, and maybe it's a reference to the milky way in the song. I've also done a "Scarlet Begonias," but it was an early quilt and I'm hesitant to post it since I think my later work is better. Some day I'll do a "Mountains of the Moon."

Cosmic quilt for a cosmic song
Very nice, it is a sky I could just sink into or wrap around myself. It almost seems to have a twinkle. I love the color scheme. You really capture the night. Is that the Milky Way in the middle? So there are three total? St. Stephen, China Cat Sunflower and Dark Star, any more? It would be great to see them all hanging in one room. Thank you buttons and bows. I live in Spokane; there are lots of quilters here. Hal If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. Wiliam Blake
