"What a place to see the 'Woz'. I forgot he was one of the promoters for that festival. They shouldve called the 'Mac Fest'
The sky was yellow the sun was blue".

two years before the Mac! The machines there were Apple IIs. I don't think even the Lisa was out yet.
There were two US Festival years 82 and 83 (or 81?) and Bill Graham was in top form. Not only did he let Woz pay to play (which was a very cool gesture) he put it together in the middle of nowhere quickly. Egos flew. At one point BG put Elliot Robert's new mercedes on a forklift and threatened to drop it off a cliff if he didn't get the Kinks on the stage before sundown one night....That was a crazy weekend, vary hot, and I actually missed the Dead second set...one of the two years. I was all access all weekend and I spent a lot of time back stage in an air conditioned bus with other numbed rodents ....that was the 80's, man. I worked for Avalon Attractions back then, but Bill Graham let us in since he was so far south...The line was drawn in San Bernadino or Fresno, back then. I became a real dead head later on, after Laguna Seca concerts hit my home town Monterey in 87.

I installed the trees on the grounds for 2 weeks 18 hrs a day. Right up to people coming in. IT was a fun festival. But Breakfast with the Boys was awesome. Hated seeing them up so early and me too. But it was fun.
It went to see the The Police as the headliner & the other days were just fun as I got a weekend pass - Man who would have thought that "Breakfast In Bed With The Grateful Dead" would get me on the bus!! Thanks Uncle Bobo & Woz!! - Thanks D Gans for all the great info over the years too!!!
