    The Dead Covers Project

What a wonderful month it's been, sharing our love of the Grateful Dead through song and video! We applaud all the hard work and effort that you, the fans, put into the DEAD COVERS PROJECT, and we hope you'll continue to watch and support all the amazing participant videos on YouTube until we fire up the DEAD COVERS PROJECT again next February.

Throughout the month of April, we'll be shining our lovelight on a handful of artists that really made the grade. You'll get to know each of these five artists and find out just what made them connect with the Dead in our exclusive DEAD COVERS PROJECT profiles, but for now we'd simply like to congratulate the following participants (in no particular order)...

    Now Playing In The Band...

The project may be over for 2012, but you can continue to check out some of the "Top Rated" videos that were submitted and "Like" them here.

    SORRY!
I don't know what happened - I certainly didn't mean to 'take over & run' anything!I enjoyed that AWBYGN, Ziph! Thanks for posting!!

ziph's picks - just when you thought it was safe
Just got back from Ashland Oregon where I got to play with Front Porch Revival at Green Springs Inn. One of the guests happened to be an old bluesman by the name of Robert Fraiser who played the harp and trumpet. These guys tore it up with amazing educational banter on the history o da blues between tunes - then four days buried in my day job and I'm back - oh and not a moment too soon I see cause ol' PAPPYPGH's a runnin the board. The really momentous development however is that the deadline ceiling has been crashed and talent is once again rearing its head. That's our call to arms all you clever and hungary souls, the flood gates are open and the deadcoversproject is once again open for business - and this time no stinkin watches! So get busy!! Ziph must be entertained!! Ha Ha but 1st I must sleep. I will return with more treasures currently hidden deep within the deadcoversproject For now however, it just took a minutre to find this this priceless entry: ziph

    HOLY SMORGASBORD!
I know the thing is over, but I do look everyday to check out new videos in the "Top 10" and have been enjoying a bunch of them! I tune in this morning to find a slew of our stuff from our recent show with the great STEVE KIMOCK! A word to the wise, the sound quality is filled with audience chatter, but you can still hear everything. We will be putting out the Soundboard audio onto Archive.org REALLY soon! I'll post the link once it's up for those interested. Peace!

That was truly fabulous! Probably the Dead song that I play the most on the steel string, but the classical guitar really makes those changes come alive. Many thanks! Really nice sounding guitar. Mind if I ask who made it? Clay

The Soothing Tones of Peter Rodenberg performing "Doin That Rag" at Mojos in Columbia, MO. I didn't shoot the video so I couldn't tag it "DeadCoversProject". However, I contacted the guy who did and hopefully he will tag is soon. I love seeing all the different covers on here! So cool! Anyways, I hope you enjoy my cover.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rukJSk6rt1Q If you like it, please check me out on facebook under "the Soothing Tones of Peter Rodenberg" or my band at www.thetenderbone.com thanks guys!

We've been really lovin all the great submissions to the DCP here. We've noticed that most featured have been accoustic, first set jams. It's Friday the start of a 3 day weekend and time to kick it up and start the 2nd set. We present to you a cover of Scarlet Begonias that Blair Jackson was kind enough to call Spicy!!

Just have to mention that is totally surreal to have my vid in the top 10 here and to have had my vid featured on the Dead.net website a couple of days ago!!! Insane. The teenage Me would be ecstatic! And he would also be like: "Umm... what's a website???" Thanks again to the folks organizing this and to my fellow 'Heads for checking out my LLR!!! Really digging several of these vids at work - e.g. that instrumental Cassidy on classical guitar just blows my mind over and over again! This project really embodies the spirit of the Grateful Dead IMHO - kind of the logical extension / complement / mirror of their philosophy supporting the open taping and distribution of their shows (makes sense in my head anyway... probably shouldn't have had that 3rd espresso just now). Keep the faith and rock on y'all!!! -Satish

Hey ! I thought I'd tape and post a solo acoustic rendition of a coupla Jerry classic slow tunes . I love to play some of these that I don't get a chance to with Not Dead Yet. By the way, there's a few new Not Dead Yet vids up, though some are vids of a show with takes from our reheasals dubbed over, for reasons of better sound quality (is my guess, I dunno JC, why'd you do it ?) Anyway, here's a version of China Cat .. Thanks for checking us out and being kind!

If you want to embed YouTube videos here but don't want them to bleed over the edge of the page, make sure you use a "custom" size when you select 'embed' from YouTube. Just make the width 380, which seems to fit good here, and it will update the height and the embed code for you! Hope that helps someone.
