Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1981, 1982 and 1993
Our first stop this week is at Madison Square Garden in New York City on 3/10/81, when they Dead were playing the second night of a terrific two night run, and from this show we have the first set featuring Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo > Franklin's Tower > Me And My Uncle ; It Must Have Been The Roses > Little Red Rooster ; Don't Ease Me In ; Lazy Lightnin' > Supplication ; Brown Eyed Women > Looks Like Rain > Deal. Early on, you'll hear some big feedback blasts, so please be careful with headphones…
Next is the start of the second set from 3/14/82 in Davis, CA, where we have a very cool sequence of Samson And Delilah ; Ship Of Fools ; Playing In The Band > Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain . I once saw a show on 7/4/90 in Kansas that featured Scarlet>Fire in a similar position, the 4th and 5th songs of the second set heading into Drums. It was always cool when the band messed with our expectations.
Lastly this week we have the entire first set from 3/11/93 in Rosemont, IL, where the band opened and closed with music from Blues For Allah: Help On The Way > Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower ; Little Red Rooster ; Althea ; When I Paint My Masterpiece ; So Many Roads > The Music Never Stopped.
Be sure to stop by next week for more music from the vault.
