Week of April 22-28, 2019
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from three distinct eras in their history, 1971, 1973, and 1984.
Our first stop this week is on 1/24/71 in Seattle, where the Dead play this very long, inspired show-ending sequence of Turn On Your Lovelight > Not Fade Away > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > Turn On Your Lovelight > Drums > Good Lovin', Uncle John’s Band.
Next up is first set music from the middle night of a three night run at Universal Amphitheatre on 6/30/73, where we have this sequence of terrific music: Bird Song ; Cumberland Blues ; Row Jimmy ; Jack Straw ; Deal ; Beat It On Down The Line ; Black Peter ; Playing In The Band.
Lastly this week, from 6/23/84 in Harrisbyrg, PA, we have the show-opening sequence of Alabama Getaway> The Promised Land ; Peggy-O; Little Red Rooster; Brown Eyed Women; My Brother Esau.
Be sure to join us next week for more music from the vault.
