February 14 - February 20, 2011

Greetings, and welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have some 1972 and 1977 Grateful Dead music, two of our favourite years.
Our first stop this week is on 11/15/72 in Oklahoma City, where we have Box of Rain, Deal, Cumberland Blues, Around and Around, China Sunflower>I Know You Rider, Promised, Ramble On Rose, Mexicali Blues.
From just a few nights later on 11/19/72 in Houston, we have Dark Star>Weather Report Suite Prelude, Mississippi 1/2 Step, Around and Around, Big Railroad Blues, Sugar Magnolia. Virtually every show in 1972 had either a Dark Star or an Other One, and they were all deep and exploratory.
Lastly this week, from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, on 11/4/77 we the entire first set featuring Bertha>Good Lovin', Brown Eyed, Cassidy, Roses, Sunrise, Minglewood, Dupree's, Let It Grow. This is part of a magnificent four night run of shows, 11/2 in Toronto, 11/4, 11/5 in Rochester and 11/6 in Binghamton.
Stop by next week for some more great jams. And as always, we encourage you to write to us at the email address below with any and all questions about the Grateful Dead.

Very surprised to see this up so early this AM -- especially with Friday's Jam Of The Week STILL a no-show...
