January 9- January 15, 2012

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music spanning 17 years in Grateful Dead history, 1969-1986.
Our first stop this week is at the beautiful Central Valley city of Modesto, CA on 3/28/69, where we have a classically huge jam from the era featuring Dark Star>St. Stephen>The Eleven>Death Don't Have No Mercy>Lovelight.
Next is music from the pre-Europe 72 run of shows at the Academy of Music in New York, on 3/27/72, the sixth of seven shows at the Academy (a venue later known as the Palladium): China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; Me And Bobby McGee ; Mr. Charlie ; Looks Like Rain ; Deal ; It Hurts Me Too ; Cumberland Blues.
Lastly this week is music from 3/31/86 in Providence, RI, where we have the entire first set, consisting of Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo ; (I'm A) Road Runner ; West L.A. Fadeaway ; My Brother Esau ; Ramble On Rose ; Desolation Row ; Might As Well. Please note that there are a couple of drop outs, quite common to Beta PCM digital tapes. We also have cassette masters of most of this era's shows, so those drops could be fixed should we ever produce CDs from these shows.
Be sure to stop in next week for more great music.
