June 27 - July 3, 2011

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, as we wrap up June and head into July with some Grateful Dead music from 1978, 1981 and 1989.
Our first stop this week is on 2/1/78 in Chicago, the third of a three night run that was a part of a six show Midwest tour, all of which was excellent. From this show we have first set material consisting of Jack Straw, FOTD, Mama Tried>Me and My Uncle, Ramble On, Cassidy, Sunrise, Sugaree.
From a little less than four years later, also in Chicago on 12/6/81, we have more first set material: Tennessee Jed, LL Rain, Jack-A-Roe, BIODTL, China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider. This run of shows in November-December, 1981 was recorded to reel-to-reel tapes rather than the usual cassettes of the area. Although they are still PA mixes, and not mix-to-tape recordings like the Betty Board reels from 1976-1979, these recordings do have a more rich, robust sound than cassettes of the same era.
Lastly this week of the opening of the first set from 2/7/89 in Oakland, the final show at the Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center, with a good sequence of Hey Pocky Way ; Jack Straw ; Loser ; Walkin' Blues. We played you the end of the first set here last week
Be sure to stop by next week for more great tunes from the Grateful Dead's vault. We welcome and encourage you to write to us with questions or comments about the Tapers' Section, or anything else you might want to know about. Except quantum physics.

I expect this to get resolved shortly, honest.:-)
and lookin forward to the fix ;)
nothin yet..
because it's ostensibly published and showing up in the recent posts for me. Bummer. Oh well, I guess we'll get it fixed tomorrow.
...on my end -- but thanks for trying Marye. There is plenty in the TS archive we haven't heard..
but that's not always definitive, and it's not appearing in all the listings where it oughta. We can get that straightened out tomorrow, but in the meantime, this is what I can find...
work for you guys?
I'll see if I can find anyone around on the holiday.:-)
Still no TS. Switching to Archive for something board and not heard before.
10:30am est on 7/4 and we're ready to kick it off
Tee it up DL!
