Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from 1973, 1980 and 1988.
Our first stop this week is on 11/20/73 at the Denver Coliseum, when the Dead were playing two nights in Denver. The second night, plus some of the first, was made into an excellent Road Trips CD release a few years ago, and for a little more from the first show, we have Ramble On Rose ; Mexicali Blues ; Don't Ease Me In ; Black Throated Wind ; Brown Eyed Women ; Beat It On Down The Line.
Next is the end of the first set from 11/26/80 in Pembroke Pines, FL, when the Dead were starting a short, four show tour of Florida and Georgia. These were the first shows after the huge Warfield and Radio City runs of shows, and they started (re)incorporating some of the acoustic material into the electric sets. From 11/26/80, we have It Must Have Been The Roses; The Race Is On ; Althea > Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance>Deal.
Lastly this week is music from Bob's 41st birthday, on 10/16/88 in St. Petersburg, FL, where we have the end of the second set and the encore. The Wheel>Gimme Some Lovin'>All Along The Watchtower>Morning Dew, Quinn The Eskimo. This show took place at the Bayfront Center, one of the smallest American venues the Dead played in their last decade of performing, holding about 7,500.
Be sure to join us here next week for more tunes from the vault.
