Grateful Dead
November 14- November 20, 2011

This week we have a nice range of Grateful Dead music spanning 16 years, 1973 to 1989.
Our first selection is a good chunk of music from 5/20/73 in Santa Barbara, CA, part of a three week run of three major shows in May, 1973: Des Moines on 5/13, this one, and Kezar 5/26. From UCSB we have Promised Land, Brown-Eyed Women, Mexicali Blues, Row Jimmy, Jack Straw, Big RR Blues, Greatest Story Ever Told, Here Comes Sunshine, Big River, Loser, El Paso, Casey Jones; Truckin. That Truckin' fades out, but the master recording is mostly intact, so we'll get to the rest of this show another time.
Next is a continuation of some music we played recently here, from 4/14/82 in Glens Falls, NY. From that show we now have the end of the second set: The Wheel>I Need A Miracle>Bertha>Black Peter>Playing In The Band>Johnny B. Goode, US Blues.
Our final selection this week is from 7/15/89, the band's first trip to Deer Creek in Noblesville, IN. From that show, we have the start of the second set, featuring Foolish Heart>Victim Or The Crime>Crazy Fingers>Truckin'>Smokestack Lightning. The Crazy Fingers has a bit of a train wreck moment, but they settle in with a monster Truckin'>Smokestack.
Be sure to stop in next week for more great music from deep within the Grateful Dead's vault.
