November 7- November 13, 2011

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll have a double dose of 1982 Grateful Dead music, and a nice piece from 1990.
Our first stop this week is on 4/14/82 at the Glens Falls Civic Center in upstate NY, previous home to the Adirondack Red Wings and current home to the Adirondack Phantoms AHL teams. From this show, we have the second set opening sequence of China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider, Playing In The Band.
Next is the end of the second set from the Greek Theatre in Berkeley on 5/23/82, featuring The Other One>Stella Blue>I Need A Miracle>Casey Jones. This was one of only two versions of Casey Jones in 1982.
Lastly this week we have the end of the show from the first night of a three night run at Cal Expo in June, 1990, on 6/8/90, featuring the end of the show: Space>The Wheel>I Need A Miracle>Black Peter>Sugar Magnolia, US Blues. As we noted a couple of weeks ago, this was the first of three weekends of great show, here, the next weekend at Shoreline and the June 23-24 weekend in Eugene (great shows and loads of fun!).
Join us next week for more great music from deep within the vault.

and many more have vanished. shock, horror, sadness. wonder why? but it is coming back. yay!
also, the function that displayed shows and sets isnt working. too bad as it was a fantastic feature, too. n hopefully it will be revived as well
i too am bummed that with some major edits in the TS history, entries have 'vanished in the air...'
curious about that, definitely interested in some revisits... particularly when I have this enticing link bookmarked!!

thanks!
Are two of the best back to back pairs of the 80's. Nice charlie miller boards are available of both shows so if you don't have them you should look them up.
on that 8 6 90 is spookily shreddalicious! wowzers. agree with doublet that june 90 was as good as the boys w brent got ... besides all the other brill shows they played together through the years. phew
Keith ain't a bad blend with the band either....
righton i 18 years old and a truly gratefullydeadicated to a lifestyle of geting lost at every show possible just like making love just keeps getin better i did say shows there is a diference uncharted grounds always the way i will always go.or did and will yea right gratefuldude dave phil i always hear that times you would always put your whatever right in that thing that squecks you suck
Thank you Dave for another great tapers' section. This feature has always been by far my favorite GD resource. I now find myself pained by the editted history, is this a space issue? a$ issue? or maybe pc, or my fault not knowing a new way to access the missing weeks. Please I need to know. Keep up the good work its much loved. Grateful listener.. ... dancin dean
Nice to go back to the daze of my youth, it was the best of times and the easiest day's of my life. Now bald skinny, wrinkled up I still get to kick back with my sound system w/speakers all around me, dual kicker's and a wide screen, by myself and feel like I did back then. No one can take that away from me, Life is good... Ghostgarden
The pinnacle for that lineup in my opinion. June 8 would be a great release. If memory serves circulating copies have the big cut in Sugar Magnolia. Nice to know the whole thing is available.
'82 does nothing for me in general but do remember something about 4/14/82 being pretty intense. Will have to re-visit. Thanks.

After years of reading your obscure minor league hockey references linked to the venues I decided to google you to find out where you're coming from with these, thinking that you must be Canadian. Ends up I did it today and, low & behold, (according to wikipedia) it's your birthday. Not only that, I know a few people that went to Carlton around the same time you did (I'm from T.O.)
Thanks for all the great tunes and enjoy the day
