Hi,
I am a software engineer experimenting with some data visualization technics. I would love to get a copy of the show database to experiment with. This is not for any commercial purpose and I'm happy to open source any resulting visualizations.
Does anyone know where I might get a copy of the show DB?
thanks,
Joshua - Gr8tfulJJoined:Suggestion for where to postHi there- New to Dead.net, got an idea how to navigate, but could use some assistance finding the best place to post a request for assistance on a project. I am producing a photo book on the closing of Winterland. I am seeking fellow Deadheads who were at the show to share their stories for inclusion in my book. Where might be the best place to get a request like that seen? I have an email account where people can reach me for more details and to communicate about the project. Thanks for your assistance. Jarid

27th-Song: They Love Each Other
Date: 7-19-90
Venue: Deer Creek
tidbit info: The 1973 (and one version in 1974) arrangement of TLEO was fast, with a fun bridge, but when the song returned to the repertoire in 1976 (with one version in 1975), it was in a much slower arrangement than it had been in 1973-1974
28th-
Song: Box of Rain
Date: 12-31-72
Venue: Winterland Arena
tidbit info: Played live only in 1972 and 1973, this American Beauty opener was dropped from the repertoire until its triumphant return in Hampton, VA in 1986
29th-
Song: Lazy River Road
Date: 7-31-94
Venue: The Palace at Auburn Hills
tidbit info: Played at 65 Grateful Dead 1993-1995, including the last-ever Grateful Dead show
30th-
Song: Uncle John's Band
Date: 9-29-77
Venue: Paramount Northwest Theater
tidbit info: Uncle John's Band was played almost 350 times, and aside from 1976 (well, it WAS played as the encore on 12/31/76, but that was after midnight so was technically 1977...) and 1978, it had a consistent place in the repertoire.

Thank you Wilfredtjones.
Your the best!
This was the better of the 2 held that weekend in Washington DC. Listening to the show on GDC in its entirety. 2 great sets, then returned with Betts and Trucks from ABB, they were incredible. I'm 61 and this music will never stop !
I know wilfredtjones recently replied to a post asking about date/venue/tidbit info for the last few days of this year's treasure chest. In previous years, I've been able to find a place that has the complete list of songs/venues/dates all in one spot. Not sure if it usually shows up on dead.net or elsewhere, but I've been unable to find it.
Anyone know where to look? If not, I guess I can go thru the list and copy/past the daily info but was hoping to find someone who's already done it!
Gratefully yours....

Ask any thou shall receive!Wow, that was quick! That post following the Day 30 track had just what I was looking for. 8-)
Thanks to you both and have a wonderful holiday season.
I will be giving a presentation on the Grateful Dead phenomenon to an audience that has not had the pleasure of being at a show, but really wants to know what it is all about.
One of my themes will be the age-old artistic tension of absolute free-form expression within a confined framework, namely: Set 1, Set 2 with jams and Space, rousing finale, then one Encore.
I have seen some stats on which songs most commonly appear as openers, set closers and encores, but I would like to go a little deeper. I am looking for a way to document my observation that one of the recurring elements in these shows is a reflective, soul-searching, song after Space (e.g. Wharf Rat, Ship of Fools, Stella Blue).
This is my observation, but I would like to support it with some measure of “Frequency Distribution of Songs Played After Space”. Does this exist?
Hey now Tom,
Very interesting topic, I have a list of tracks out of space somewhere, once I track it down I will email you, that is if your email addy is still valid from pic a nic daze.
Check out this link it has some interesting things....

Of all of the shows I've been to, the most memorable post Space tune was Brent's I Will Take You Home 7/04/89 out of space in the light misty rain.....the 80,000 in attendance were mesmerized....
Stay well, hope to see you at a Mayer n Sons show this summer....
Rich, can't wait to see what you got. I have not changed my contacts since Tony started tracking us.
I did see that article, the first that got me thinking it was possible that someone had done such analysis. I also saw someone construct "average" set lists by year (too many links ago).
As for this summer's Bobby et al. depends on whether the rumor on Camden pans out.
MaryE, thanks for the lead, but can you give a hint how one would "check with Nicholas Meriwether at the Archive"?

you might check with the DeadBase guys: http://deadbase.github.io/db50/
I apologize in advance if this has been answered before, but I'm new.
I'm playing catch up with releases. 2 that I can't seem to find are the 11/5 &6/79 Spectrum shows released during the Road Trips era. I've read that they were download only, but is there anyway to access them for purchase? It seems strange that they are unavailable given the presence of the other RT shows for download.
Thanks
Why does my browser always hang when I click on the Dead Covers Project, or What Are You Listening to Right Now links? I assume it has something to do with the YouTube video embeds, but man it happens on all of my computers. I run Windows 10, IE 11 with RAM ranging from 8 GB to 16 GB. The issue occurs on all of my machines. Perhaps it's processor related?
how long does it take for a new post to be approved ?
send me a pm and we'll figure it out.
Since Monday, can't get the player to work (the window that pops up when you listen to, say a GD hour), window opens and churns but the player never shows up. ( both Chrome and WE) Help please.
In Chrome on a Mac.
It's also popping up in a new window, so if you have popups blocked that might be an issue.
Hey now, all! I have some free and discount coupons for yummy Springfield Creamery products I am not able to use because the products are not available in my area. If anyone wants them, PM me your address. The coupons expire on 10-31-2016.
-edit- They're gone...
All items say Temporarily Unavailable.
What's up with down store?
Did Bill Walton buy 'em out?
Inquiring minds want to know...
I'll see if I can find more details. But today's Sunday, so it'll probably be tomorrow.
Is there any way to add my station TRUCKIN' WITH THE DEAD to the radio station page. Thanks Marye http://truckin-withthedead.playtheradio.com/
I don't think there is one, but in the meantime, feel free to tell us about your show here: http://dead.net/forum/dead-radio-shows-podcasts-etc
Thanks!
http://www.dead.net/show/july-4-1987 & Bob Dylan
I know the setlist mentions his last name as having helped with the sound check, as well as his singular voice when he starts singing, but I think that “Guest Vocalist” or “Guest Appearance”, or some such statement at the first of the “Notes” section would be much more helpful than making us deduce for ourselves his presence. Not to mention the absolute absence of his first name. We wouldn't want anyone to assume y'all are trying to make us believe Dylan Ryder sat in with The band (Dylan Thomas (though I guess he could have 'attended' had his casket been exhumed)).
Sorry. The places my mind goes...
ihe new shows up in "my account" but it does not appear anywhere else. I've deleted the old, added the new, but the old one persists. Ive changed it before and don't recall this happening then. Please point me in right direction/ Thank you.
Just wondering if any of the old 30 Days Of Dead songs are archived anywhere on the website. I had a number of these backed up on another computer, which is--sadly--no longer with us, and all those MP3s have gone up along with it. I found the link to the 2016 30 Days Of Dead MP3s in the Almanac, but what about the previous years? I've been collecting them for the last 5 years I've been a member of this site, so that's something like 120 Days Of Dead gone.
Most recent one is here: http://www.dead.net/30daysofdead
Why has dead.net been selling the same lousy t-shirts for almost two years now? With all the great t-shirts (cotton only!) over the years you would think they'd have a better offering. How about a nice Jester t-shirt? Or a Blues for Allah? Maybe an original Skull and Roses made of cotton? As far as the selection goes for now, all I can say is: "What a waste."
Greetings, I have a Guild electric guitar (model S-300 D) that I purchased in 1995 on the big island of Hawaii. when I was doing some adjustments I discovered that it had written on the inside of the cover plate "Grateful Dead 10/7/1983"
I'm wondering if there is a channel here to get some more info about this guitar's possible involvement with the Dead.
Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you-Jay
I know nothing, re the guitar, but the date is the day before the Watsonville show, if that suggests any connection:http://www.dead.net/venue/santa-cruz-county-fairgrounds
Hello! I'm sitting here looking at my calendar and thinkin'..."August 1 sure is getting close!"Not only is it Jerry's 75th birthday, I believe it is the release date for Dave's Pick #23, 1/22/78.
Do you have any idea when we'll discover the status of #23 ? Gracias senorita!
By the time I read my gmail from dead.net, Dave's #23 was sold out. I was almost certain another show from early 1970 was going to be the Pick.
Yes. I read email and then tried to order. SOLD OUT. Guess what... There are scalpers on Ebay laughing all the way to the bank at deadheads - or " stupid hippies " as MADDOGG138 - seller on EBAY called them. He admitted he doesn't care - here to make a lot of money off his many copies. They are getting way more than the original price. Why are the Dead limiting the number of copies? They tried to stop ticket scalpers years ago but now help the cd scalpers along. I was disappointed when the band started raising money for politicians etc and even more let down by the cd situation. Lost most interest in the current band.
