All 3 shows all front center row.

A few of us took a trip to Rose Records on Wabash to all get wristbands. They were selling tickets by a lottery…..draw a number and that’s who was first in line and then they went in sequential order from there. Well one of us four ended up third or fourth in line when the tickets went on sale and did we ever get the best possible seats we could afford!
“DEAD” center front rows…7th, 8th, and 10th I believe…..THE VERY BEST 1st Grateful Dead Concert ever! We rented a huge Ryder truck and camped out in the parking lot for 4 nights and 5 days …… or was it 3 nights and 4 days? I still have everything I bought (not the P,B&Js, shrooms, etc…..naturally) from the parking lot 35 years later. The type dyes are rather tattered anymore though.

    First concert!

This was my first concert and my first Dead show! It turns out it was my wife's first show too but we didn't know each other yet. We eventually met years later across the country.

Let's just say I have an addictive personality and during Touch Of Grey I saw the words coming out of Jerry's mouth. I had to work after this show too:) No, I did not drive home. I did enjoy the show beyond belief. Still unfamiliar with the band I remember freaking out during the Plaing reprise because I swore they did that one already lol. I learned an important lesson that night. Give it time before doubling up:)

My first show. I had a similar experience when, during Franklin's Tower, I saw the music "roll away" from the stage, bounce off the back wall of the arena and roll back. I remember thinking the exact same thing during Playing Reprise, too. Welcome to the Dead, huh?

Welcome to the Dead. Never to look back, nothing special about this, but one of my first shows where both drummers played. Chicago is/was a great city to host the Dead because of it's strength. Whatever the hell that means. I remember a strong "Estimated", but by looking at the set list(s); I see that they didn't even play that one. Over and out. Richard
