    Careful Up There

Check out the classic Brokedown Palace encore to end the Spring '82 spring tour! https://archive.org/details/gd1982-04-19.mtx.tobin.89314.sbeok.flac16/g… I almost failed out of college as I didn't go to one class all spring. We were tripping our balls off in the empty lights room across the arena in our underwear. At 1:33 just as Jerry sings "In my time, in my time, I will roll..." Bobby says, "Careful up there!" I'll never forget this night and wanted to share it because my fraternity brother passed away prematurely years later. No one will ever know except for Bobby and you now!

Wait - I just read another deadhead who had another tale that Bobby was speaking to him. See imazappafan - https://archive.org/details/gd82-04-19.aud-martin.warner.19420.sbeok.sh…

The setlist makes it look like the encore, Brokedown Palace, isn't here. If that's true, then it's a major bummer as this is a clean sounding audience tape. If it doesn't have the encore, here's one thing you'll miss:
So there I am in the upper section at the truly brokedown 'palace' that was the Baltimore Civic Center. It's the end of the show, and I steal (I am SO SO Sorry!) a bedsheet with the Steal Your Face painted on it. The sheet had been tied to the railing of the upper deck. And I'm wearing this sheet like a cape and swaying back and forth, along with a dozen strangers, I mean lifelong friends. We are all just swaying to the music while standing at the railing, and being as careful as we can considering the situation. Then Bobby looked up at us (I mean, me) and said "Be careful up there." We went nuts. On the way home, my sister and I grabbed a bus near Mt. Vernon. Nobody onboard but a few deadheads, and one of em looks at me and yells "HEY! I sold you pot!" And he had, too, several months earlier. He's probably a doctor somewhere now.....

Just an incredible show from start to finish. Such energy! There really wasn't a weak moment. The Feel Like A Stranger has that incredble meltdown break before the ending. Of course the real treasure was the the Raven Space after drums. More Nitrous a whore! Enough drilling for one night. A must have. Dougles

Alright, so I didn't go to over 100 shows, but I did several dozen! This was the finest one I ever attended. Not that it matters to anyone, but it was an interesting political context that got me there. I was studying at Earlham College in Indiana and a group of friends and I wanted to haver a hell of a time while making a statement: between the Philly Spectrum show a couple of days earlier and this one in Baltimore there was a US out of El Salvador rally in DC. We did good, and we heard well.

Oh my goddess- the Raven during the space! I remember this! Blew my mind- which was already fairly torn to shreds. Amazing to remember this after 25 years! Peggy-o and Cassidy- became two of my favorites after this show. xine

Daniel A. DincherQuite the hot show. First set was rocking. The second set was out of this and any other world. " Quote the raven.....nevermore, OOOO more nitrous, we need more nitrous." Then there came a knock knock knocking, on my berdroom chamber!" Meanwhile someone is laughing very loudly and completely insane. This all slowly slips into the wheel. Bobby has the last word...."Quote the raven......nevermore" After that I spent the next ten minutes trying to find my head which had popped off and was rolling around on the floor. Get the recording of the show if you can. April 19, 1982 Wooo Hooo!!!!!!!
