    Dead Air show
always wondered why they played the same weekendas airshow. traffic is never fun there, add dead show or air show and it's a dead stop on the road.

I know I attended one of these at this venue but I was a "dead battery" that day and it all seems so distant now.

One of those days a pack of heads scaled the fence and the band cancelled beer sales. I remember seeing loads of folks in tie-dyes running with two or three security guards in hot pursuit

This was a Sunday in Orange County. El Toro Air Marine Base was sponsoring an Air Show. An F-16 crashed in some strawberry fields about a mile from the 5 Freeway. In the parking lot, before the show, a couple of F-16s flew real low (Maybe 3000 feet) over the parking lot, banked above the hills behind the Amphitheater and zoomed back up and out of sight. The band must have recorded or sampled the jets' fly over, because during space, the jets flew into the band's sound system and made two or three dizzying, distorted, and heart stopping swirls around the stadium, before flying up and out of the place....This is one of the last great "big shows" the Dead played at Irvine. shockman
