Sadly, I missed the amusement park

35 years ago today. I drove almost nonstop solo from Virginia to get to this show. I had tickets for all the shows from Austin thru Red Rocks. Somehow as soon I got to Houston I quickly found a ticket reseller in a strip mall and bought a cheap ticket for this concert. However, I had no idea there was an amusement park adjacent to the venue. (Or I would have spent the day on the rides, "at least I'm enjoying the ride.") . Hung out in the parking lot till showtime. I taped the show from the taper's section, and right after the show I jumped in the car and drove directly to Austin.

    Lost my Ride
What an excellent show! I was feeling really good, Well, so was my ride. He got led out of the show by accident and they wouldnt let him back in. I found my way to the car but it was gone. WOW after that show and how good I was feeling!! Scott if you ever read this, I still will kill you for that. He freaked out on all the rides and couldnt take it and left, with all my stuff too. Thanks to Jerry, I got a ride to my moms house, arriving at 3am with no shoes and no purse or anything. I think the rides flipped everyone out, and how to get in and out was a challenge, but fun to me (but I knew the park). I had to be on a plane the next morning by 10 am going to PA, but my ticket was in the car that left me in my purse. My mom drove me to Huntsville Texas for my purse at 7am, and got me on the plane.. What a trip for my 10th show, just crazy. I was only 17 and when I got to PA my father asked me what the hell happened to me !!!! What a story (that he will never know). The show was excellent and the fireworks were a treat too from the park. It was a night I will never forget. Thanks Jerry!!! Never forget your kindness for driving me home when you were going to the next show in Austin, TX. Thanks so much... Hope Scott got you that whiskey for messing up that night!! He told me he did. Jerrysighting!!
We had backstage passes for the show. It was a hot one and we were trying to chill in some shade, when Jerry came out of nowhere and just walked right on by us with a wink and a wave!! It was magical. Jerry we miss you!!

Seeing the Dead at an Amusment Park, riding all the roller coasters while feeling real good, if you know what I mean. A truely magical day. One thing I didnt like was one roller coaster I was on brokedown on the way up, causing mass panic for all of us on it. Felt like it went back 1 or 2 feet on the track. Scary stuff

I challenge you to find a Morning Dew with this level of intensity and raw power. It was hot, it had rained. Space was exellent. Great Sugar Mag. Great show. My first show. I love the Dead.

We arrived from New Orleans a few hours before the show and bought tickets in the parking lot for $7. Turned out to be tenth row center in the seating area. Tough to beat a day in the amusement park capped with a Dead show!
